If anybody ever questions how much luck is involved in winning a grand slam - I highly doubt anybody could dream up the run that Novak has had, but let's face it he is one of the few that have defied the laws of nature and recovery ... is there anybody left with the energy to give him a game??
But this tournament has been pretty much gifted to him this year ... last mans tanding but he is only just getting goin', the only question is that when it is that easy their is ALWAYS a sting in the tail ... |

This has probably been answered already asvi am about twenty pages behind on this thread, but he he is married to an English woman. He was anti the English football team, not anti English
I am sure that the English media has a big say on the anti-english football line of thinking for most "neutrals" though ... PS - she is American.

Well strangely a couple of days after i got banned someone came on and posted outright that Rafa was doping and the post wasn't removed nor the poster banned. so it seems a joke is beyond the pale but outright libel is fine

I notice none of the Andy bashers seem to have noticed him singing the National Anthem in Rio when he won (unlike most other medallists other than the hockey team!) which is surprising if he is so militantly anti-English.

Oh gawd I can't believe I'm going to side myself with every moronic UKIP supporter racist moron around, but here goes...
I think the England shirt thing was a joke, but he came out for Scottish independence, which is a perfectly valid view, but if he had his way his last Gold would have been for Scotland, his last Wimbledon too and last Davis Cup,, so how can it not be valid for an Englishperson (or Welsh or Nor) not to back hm,? |

No fist pumping, rolling around or screaming for joy upon victory. He simply looked skyward briefly with relief and then eyed his vanquished opponent across the net with empathy and respect. The mark of a true champion. Remove what I said about the Serb, censorship will not make it any less valid. |

As the WTA Tour moves towards the Asian swing I wonder if the evergreen Kimiko Date is plotting another comeback?

I watched until the final set when the result was obvious. I don't think Kei had recovered from his match with Andy and was gone by the end. I don't know how Stan keeps his energy as he looks an unlikely fitness candidate. I think Novak's serve looked dodgy and Stan could win. Having had so little play Novak could blag his way through it.
I hope Stan gets his third slam even though it will equal Andy. Why is he so inconsistent the rest of the time? |

My best friend has a serious crush on Djokovic, she's waiting in the wings hoping that the rumours about his marriage difficulties turn out to be true & he becomes available.

Another year goes without a man born in the 90s winning a Slam, by this time 10 years ago 7 people had won born in the 80s totalling 17 titles in all.
Pliskova has a chance to Make it the third woman after Petra and Garbine, this time 10 years ago 6 women born in the 80s totalling an amazing 21 titles. My obsession for another year over too, sorry for boring you all. |

Everyone's at it now. Both Stan and Karolina being MP down at some point during the tournament and making it to the final.

Kerber's not winning the Olympics when fave makes me doubt her a bit, some people prefer being underdogs, so I'd just give the edge to Pliskobot. Hope it's a goods match mainly like the Birmingham or Stanford final.
Don't care much about the mens after sitting through that appalling Nole-Gael match, I probably favour Stan. |

Good luck to Jamie Murray and Soares in their final today. I can't really take to Kerber - she seems so dismissive of her opponents to me - graceless.

Looks like Jamie is enjoying that neck massage a little too much. Judy should turn it into a GIF and add some music like Je t'aime to it. .

I think he's very nice looking; unfortunately for your friend Novak's marriage seems rock solid to me.
