Yes! The stats are retained!

So happy for her, Pliskobot did play pretty well, though.

Great final, great winner. I'm very happy! Actually all 4 slam finals have been good for the women.

Kerber being told off by security guards and dragged back on court by the hand, priceless

What a year she's had. Two GS wins, a finalist plus an Olympic silver medal. She's got a lot to be pleased about. At least number one goes to someone who actually has GS titles.

She had to wait a long time for it but better late than never!

Really enjoyed that, Pliskova really didn't disgrace herself, but Kerber turned ti on from 1-3 in the third.

I wonder if Kerber will return the "maybe next time" favour.

Such a shame all these matches have to end with these cringey interviews.

You have to assume with Kerbers running game she will have a short life expectancy at the top as she moves into her thirties, but nonetheless I think shes got a real shot of holding that number 1 spot for a good few years possibly. Depends on Serena of course.

Serena will struggle to get back in the no.1 hunt, assuming she's going to abandon her season again like last year. She's getting older, getting more niggling injuries, more players are taking their opportunities against her and most importantly she can't do the full calendar that the others do. To put it into context aside from the 4 slams & Rio, Serena only played 3 other tournaments this year, only the 7 with points on offer were propping up her ranking in 2016.

What exactly do you mean by that? Pliskova deserved that match just as much as Kerber, but she just ran out of a little steam in the end. They both played really well and it was a good final for a neutral.
