Stan is a very cool customer, isn't he?! Just won his third slam and he slowly strolls over to his box

Therefore, Mugs didn't win - Serena lost. It's just so condescending.”

I guess he is just doing damage control for his client, Same as team Nole would do. It is clear to see both players are shadows of themselves and i guess their opponents can only beat what is infront of them. Maybe because both are so good and expected to win everything, it becomes a case of them beating themselves rather than someone winning it. So i guess the excuse are a way to mask disapointment.

Just goes to show, tennis these days is definitely a marathon rather than a sprint. You might be waiting a decade before you win a slam. Although it may not be as difficult once the big four are out of the way.

Novak made the final by beating nobody.

Get lost Catriona you're full of shit. The USO is not the best sporting event in the world and never will be.

This is quite a yucky presentation ceremony - I think I prefer Murray wailing into his towel.

I'll be stunned if he does. He's slipped so far back this year it'll take a monumental effort to get back to where he was. He's been easily over-powered by Querrey, Del Potro and Wawrinka in the last three months. With no offence meant to the former two only the latter is strong enough to sit at the top table.

Nole clearly has problems going on, maybe should have taken a year out, rather than months.

Congrats Stan.

Yet at the beginning of this year everyone seemed to think it was only a matter of time before it happened...

Tennis' power couple add more trophies to their cabinet; Australian Open, French Open, US Open and... Kuala Lumpur.

It's still been an excellent year for Novak, two GS titles and a GS finalist.

He missed out on two Opens, Wimbledon and the US. Not a nightmare in the great scheme of things and he should be more than capable of a calendar slam next year.

And yet... he's nowhere near good enough to call himself World Number One at the moment. Anyone who plays him must fancy their chances.

This guy is the worst interviewer in the world, such banal questions.

Anyhoo well done Stan, played 7 matches and won 7 matches

Also well done to Angie for yesterday's win, great way to cement No 1 ranking.

It's been a good year for Men's Tennis - three different GS champs. Not exactly wide open but much more open than most recent years.

If he'd won, say, the French and the US I'd agree but the fade has been shocking since the Rolland Garros victory. He's not in a good place at all at the moment.

...that's why projecting ahead is so pointless, oh ansd Stan has as many Slams as Andy again which is nice.

Donna is lovely, can't she be in the post-match photoshoot, Fognini managed to get in Pennetta's last year.

We have 31 and 28 year old champions this year....pity Serena lost or it would have been 31 and 34

Sorry lots of tennis players out there would LOVE to win two grand slams in their lifetime, never mind in one year. The dude is only human, he's going to be off sometimes and lose matches. It would be odd if he didn't...

You have a feeling 2017 is kinda wide open for both men and women. More so than in ages. Yay!

The Stan Slam is still on except there's a 2 year gap now.
