Hev clinches the match on her 4th match point. Wozniacki next for her.

Delpo lost a tough 3 set match with Goffin. I shall now take to my bed for 3 days of mourning

She is. I guess she's trying to push the narrative that she's done nothing wrong and she's got nothing to be ashamed of. But whenever I think harshly of her I remind myself that what she did is probably nothing compared to some of the actual doping that's really going on in tennis, so...
Yeah its the PR machine working to rehabilitate her character. I guess its not aimed at us, but I wish she had waited a bit longer. I think it was a good idea to play an exhibition as an ice breaker, so her first appearance on court isn't an actual match. But maybe she should have left it to next year.

I can't believe Delpo wasted his wild card, the man puts in no effort.

She was a bit of a mess in the second set there. She was lucky to escape that tb and a 3rd set...

I have to say, I haven't seen much of Hibino before this match buti was surprised how much she was getting back with Stosurs power!

Agreed! He should be ashamed of himself

Maria was back on court last night in a charity event in Vegas with Mac, Martina, Roddick and others :

Fairly ugly court.

I reckon Kerber wears the weird white shorts better than Halep, they don't look too big on her.

Say no more,

The DM have gone for the classic mid swing photo of EJ

no tennis player is safe from that unflattering shot.

Kerber is running on fumes now, can't see her winning in Singapore.

At least he didn't stack it this time.

Who knew how lucrative that exo was? Maria's already back in the top 10...

Appearance fee aside, what on earth is Kerber doing in Hong Kong? I know she's got stamina in spades, but rest for Singapore you crazy woman!

lol Thanks for reminding me of that incident.

It seems crazy for Madison and Garbine to hop over to Austria as well. The logic behind these decisions is beyond us mere mortals.

Do you understand the road to Singapore table below the rankings? Its got Vika at number 2, Konta at 7 when she hasn't qualified and no sign of Garbine. I'm all .

They'll be taking WCs into Moscow or Lux the week after, chasing more points for Singapore so that European detour makes sense. It won't be so bad when Singapore's contract is up in 2018 and the YEC hopefully goes back west again.

Someone has input the wrong date and it's loaded up a set of rankings/rts rankings from early in the season. They're from after Vika did the sunshine double.

They must all be knackered, I don't know how they can go from China to Europe to Singapore in the space of 3 weeks. Have they decided where YEC is going after 2018?

ffs, I have been doing mental gymnastics trying to understand how that table works lol. At least I know i'm not totally stupid .

Current rankings

Kerber 7995
S Williams 7050
Radwanska 4975
Halep 4728
Pliskova 4100
---all above this line are guaranteed to be in Singapore----
Muguruza 3678
Keys 3528
Konta 3455
---all above this line at the cutoff will be in Singapore----
Cibulkova 3445
Suarez Navarro 3091

Given the gap between Cibulkova and Suarez Navarro, it is now essentially a three horse race for 2 spots: Muguruza has more than enough points IMO.

I notice Cibulkova is down for Moscow so Konta needs to put some distance between her this week. Failing that, get above Keys, who like Konta is also doing nothing next week as it stands (that might change yet)

Yes, Nick's win wasn't mention on here, I was going to post that it's strange how he is an Andy fanboy and takes a title the same day as Andy. Please for him, and the lack of headlines coming from that tourney means he was playing and not doing anything off the court to provoke the press.

Re age: you might be the thread young one! I'm almost 31

Re Asian swing: am happy because I'm moving house/starting a new job so will be without internet and headspace for a while.
BIB - I mentioned it...it's at the beginning of my previous multi-quote. You shouldn't skip my posts, innit.

Good luck with the house move/new job, love.

Well Jo Konta is in the same half of the draw as Heather Watson.
It'll be anything but elementary for Hev to reach her.

Delpo lost a tough 3 set match with Goffin. I shall now take to my bed for 3 days of mourning
Delpo looked knackered and rusty. Could be jetlag, or it may be that his DC exertions finished him off? It was a tough R1 draw for him with an in form Goffin who's been in Asia for a while longer and played several matches.

Goffin obviously favoured CC rallies BH to BH initially, but gained confidence as the match went on and brought his BH DTL to the party. He was also doing a decent job returning Delpo's 2nd serve.

Disappointing for Delpo fans but I can't deny that I'm relieved on Andy's behalf. Delpo can do a lot of damage on these quickish courts and he was in Andy's quarter.

Delpo will have to head back west for Stockholm next week.

Playing tournaments in successive weeks on different continents almost guarantees that you'll be a zombie at the YEC. Keys in particular seems liable to an early exit.

Konta wins 6-2 6-2.
Expected. Naomi drowned in a sea of DFs and didn't lay a glove on Jo's serve. Jo was far superior in rallies which was again expected.

Naomi's funky groundies and poor movement will always be exposed against big hitters. Too late in her career to fix, hence the Karlovic comparisons. Naomi does have a meaty topspin BH though - Karlovic is monogamous with slice a la Vinci, Steve Johnson.

What a weird court at Linz on Eurosport 2. It looks like they are playing in black and white and the players have been coloured like that movie Pleasantville.

I was just gonna say it's like I'm watching on a black & white telly.

They may yet just renew and stay in Singapore, although given the whole Asia revolution was all Stacey's brainchild maybe the new CEO might think differently.

Am I right in saying there's no live coverage from Linz tomorrow on Eurosport? Seems a bit odd, as the top 3 seeds are all in action. Why do they obtain the rights to a tournament they can't fit into their schedule? I'm guessing there would be live coverage on the Eurosport player, but not everyone has the player subscription.

Kyle played well this morning and I'm really starting to enjoy watching him play. He has a calmness about him that you just don't have when you watch Andy I think he's improving all the time and he never seems phased when he's up against the big names. I can't wait to see how he does over the next few years.

No idea what's going on with Kyrgios. He wins his first 500 tournament then comes in half ar$ed at this one.
