As stated by me in this thread about two hours ago

Konta must trump Cibulkova on a tiebreak then, whatever that is, because if Cibulkova gets to the semis they would be tied on the same number of points. Anyone any ideas?

EDIT - found it in the rules:

Quote:
“When two (2) or more players have the same number of ranking
points, the tie for the ranking position will be decided according to
the following priorities:

i. The player with the most combined total points from Grand
Slams, Premier Mandatory Tournaments, Premier 5
Tournaments and the Premier WTA Championships;

ii. The player with the most total points from all WTA
Tournaments, including the Premier WTA Championships;

iii. The player with the fewest number of Tournaments in a 52-
week period (including any Mandatory Tournaments, if the
player qualified for acceptance); and

iv. The highest number of points from one (1) single Tournament,
then if needed, the second highest and so on.”

Will probably all be academic anyway, she will either make the final this week or get enough points next week in Moscow to overtake Konta.

Konta has still had an amazing year, whatever happens.

Heather lost in straight sets 6-3 6-3.

It's that time of the year where you need a degree in calculus to work everything out.

Domi's 16th best score is currently 100, hence the SF of Linz - 110 points would level her Konta. Assuming her abdominal strain isn't too bad she could still play Lux next week, Moscow is unlikely unless they want to add more drama to 2016 as Garbine and Keys will likely take the only spare WCs.

I see Aga has withdrawn from Tianjin with a thigh injury. Good decision with Singapore around the corner.

I thought Konta wasn't due to play next week, nor Keys or Garbine?

Nick's an odd one alright. It really seems to depend on whether he enjoys the logistics/tournament organisation, or has his mum/brother/gf Tomljanovic in the box. In Tokyo he couldn't stop complimenting the organisers/crowd atmos and he actually kept focus during matches. When something off court is not to his liking he acts up.

Unfortunately for him, you can't pick and choose when you commit if you want to be a top player. Half arsing it at mandatory events needs to be nipped in the bud, as eventually the paying public will be reluctant to buy tickets for his matches. It was an insult to the paying public, the viewers, the opponent, himself, his family...list is endless. I see he's been fined but a suspension is long overdue. Only way he'll learn. It'll give him the chance to find a coach/psychologist/head doctor.

ROS shaky, serve shaky, defence not what it once was...worst of all is the FH lacks potency. No confidence to hit it DTL.

His aura on hard is totally gone. He's essentially a top 30 player on HC atm.

Bencic got pasted. Very frustrating stop-start year for her.

I hope she won't chase the moolah in the offseason and actually do some serious hard yards off court. It'll help her avoid these niggling injuries and she'll recover faster from them.

Don't have much choice at the minute. The Sky box has started playing up and no amount of reboots, forced updates, etc is shifting it so I'm waiting on an engineer call out. The latter stages should be on Eurosport.”

Tried planner rebuild? Tbh your scenario gives me the fear as I've had my box a while now, and the HD won't last forever. Still a backlog of stuff I haven't watched from a year ago.

Linz has a beefy Italian sponsor behind it (Generali) - one of the top 3 insurers worldwide. They command a fair chunk of the continental market.

He needed about 8 swings to wreck it. Amateur.

I can see why he was mad though, went a break up in the final set and lead 4-1 before handing it back with a hilariously rubbish smash.

Zverev becomes passive when he gets tight, and it'll cost him against gunslingers like Tsonga.

I believe the talk is of Keys taking a wildcard into Moscow however given Konta has pulled out of HK, she may feel now she doesnt need to.

And yes, Konta isnt scheduled anywhere. However it doesnt stop a player taking a late wildcard into an event, if there are any available.

Don't bite the hand that feeds you, springs to mind. It might all seem a lark now, but people will only put up with him making a social pariah of himself for so long. No point constantly giving him fines when he still doesn't learn and money is no object.

"Planner cannot be rebuilt in diskless mode." I've got an engineer coming tomorrow afternoon. They're phasing out the HD boxes now, all new customers are getting the Q ones as that's going to be the new standard.

I'm still surprised Konta didn't compete in Tokyo. She could have done well there, I think. I guess she had never planned to enter and there maybe was no late wildcard spots.

Just shows the power of a sponsor. I wasn't aware of Generali's clout, but you are right, they command a lot worldwide. They have stuck with Linz for many years as well - so maybe in hindsight the tournament deserves its spot on the tour.

That Telegraph article and other comments from white male upper-class Oxbridge public school types talking about "entitlement" was pathetic.

she was invited by Elton, it's his Tournament, ot raised much money for charity, the players all know her personally, and seemed delighted to see her back Brown and the like presumably don't. They clearly feel it was a honest mistake and she was harshly treated by the ITF.

Martina discovered her, BJK mentored her, Roddick has been a friend since a teen. Mac has kinda admitted to taking illegal substances during his career, sop robably realises he's in no position to judge.

Honestly it's a WTT charity event it's really no big deal, the righteous indignation is silly.

Good words from Del potro too.

Time for Garbine! I have everything crossed for a win.

I see what people mean about the court, its so weird! Why have they provided sofa's for them to sit on? Garbine just had to haul herself out of it.

lol It wouldn't surprise me if she did. I'm not surprised the players are having problems spotting the ball on this court. It's like a spot the ball competition in a newspaper.

It's the kind of thing you see in the Animated Short segment at the Oscars. A black and white featurette with random pops of colour.

Has she ever umpired a kyrgios match I wonder, it could be a match made in heaven..... for us.

Do you know if its always like this? It seems like a mistake like Madrid's short lived blue clay.

It seems to be an experiment gone wrong. It's giving me a headache. Jo Durie said the bright lighting makes it even harder for the players to spot the ball.

Shame for Jo, but hopefully nothing too serious, and she'll bounce back soon. A place in Singapore would be great, but if she's a bit iffy, maybe she should rest up.

The right coach would do more than motivate, they'd keep him happy and stop him from getting bored, and generally make life on the road more fun. However, I fully accept that finding him the right coach, complete with magical powers, and a willingness to give it a go, will be a lot tougher in practice than in theory.
