Listening to the commentators talk about Garbine's regal elegance and great physique makes me think they might love her even more than I do.

Ana will dock Nigel's pay if he carries on.

If things don't work out with Sumyk, we now know that Garbine has options. Ana should give him a pay rise!

lol, this game is awful.

Word must have got to Garbine that the WTA posted on twitter she'd now qualified.

I'm also convinced the DJ in Linz must be about 70yrs old, I don't think they've played anything newer than the 70s or 80s this week.

Clearly they do things differently in the Challengers... not sure this method of court drying will catch on.
Absolutely bonkers! I like they way they are just casually throwing fuel around and lighting it with bits of paper!

OMG I didn't realise there was a video of the men with fire antics.

2016 in a nutshell... burn it to the ground.

That was awful. I don't like sad tears.

Jesus, she's not actually going to risk continuing on that ankle? Singapore is a done deal now.

Competitive people are crazy aren't they?

I don't like seeing my girl cry, they had to zoom in on her face as well. She's very scared about her ankles after having surgery before, and they are proper dainty. I hope it shook her up more than hurt her.

She just needs to swing away.

Sumyk has always given me the creeps. Easy for him to say calm down, it's not that bad.

Common sense prevails, rest up for Singapore now.

lol has he? He seems nice to me, its always amusing to hear the comms totally disagree with his on court advice though.

She seems like the boss in that setup, but its good that he was very clear and told her not to risk Singapore. She's too upset to continue, she looked in legit distress over it. Thankfully she packed it in. I feel like I need a shot of whiskey after that.

He always seems to invade his players personal space and be a bit touchy feely. Garbine even shuffled away from him in their first chat tonight. I guess I'm just too used to seeing Maria gazing into the middle distance whilst her coaches tentatively try to offer suggestions. I do like that Garbine is one of the more chattier ones.

Oh yeah I can see what you mean, some people are just like that. But if your not keen on touchy people its super off putting. Comms keep mentioning their tetchy conversations, but sometimes that's a sign that people get on because you are more open with each other. It can also mean you hate each other lol.

Do they usually broadcast the Elite Trophy on BT Sport?

Good article here about Jo pulling about Jo pulling out of HK and needing time to rest up before either of the two year end events. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/ten..._campaign=1490

It could be that her best hope is Serena Williams not bothering to attend the Singapore event, which would open up a position for whoever finishes ninth.

Williams missed it last year and has been non-committal about whether she intends to play the 2016 edition at the end of this month.
I'm sure Williams will be there, and maybe try and get back to No. 1.

No - they end with Singapore.

But if Konta is playing they might change their plans - not much live daytime sport in November on weekdays so they might welcome it.

Konta will go as a reserve surely, whatever happens, Serena's health is always questionable, Garbine has just picked up an injury, and hey a few of the others aren't actually made of steel injury-wise.

Meanwhile in Aleppo

Makes sense I guess, that court is straight out of Soviet Russia.

Veeery tempted to give a hop over to London for the WTF's, tickets on Viagogo are pretty pricey at short notice but I'm after finding Ryanair flights for less than €40. I shall see.

Also, anybody see this? The WTA are running their player of the year poll, and Serena has voted! Also, you've got to laugh at Halep's inclusion in the poll. I mean I know they needed five to make a top five, but still At least Pliskova made a slam final!

Observations - Golubic has a quality OHBH. The way she hits the BH DTL reminds me a bit of Almagro? Also has a handy slice. She's having a lowkey decent year.

Simon-Sock was the best Shanghai QF. Sadly Sock bottled it in the TB. Pity because Sock's never played Murray.

OTOH Simon is one of Muzza's pigeons (H2H 14-2). Simon did win their last HC meeting...Rotterdam last year.

Don't bite the hand that feeds you, springs to mind. It might all seem a lark now, but people will only put up with him making a social pariah of himself for so long. No point constantly giving him fines when he still doesn't learn and money is no object.
Yup. Who knows though, there may be another explanation...could be an undiagnosed mental health issue. Pure speculation on my part, obvs.

Just shows the power of a sponsor. I wasn't aware of Generali's clout, but you are right, they command a lot worldwide. They have stuck with Linz for many years as well - so maybe in hindsight the tournament deserves its spot on the tour.
Tbh I had to look Generali up as well...they have zero presence in the UK but they're a big cheese on the continent. I suppose the UK financial/insurance market is saturated?

Good words from Del potro too.
He's a Nike stablemate of Pova, he knows which side his bread is buttered.

Alison Hughes is so strict. She's like Miss Trunchbull from Matilda.
Ha! Can't unsee it

I seem to recall an indoor hard court in Belgium that was bright purple. or am I imaging it? I remember Justine Henin playing in the final, it was on Eurosport.
I remember it too. It was somewhere in Western Europe, probably France or Belgique.

Djokovic a break down against the world number 110...

Still expect him to win this match, though.
He was in a weird frame of mind this match, overly smiley and treating it like an exhibition. Only seemed to switch on when elder Zverev failed to put him away in straights.

Probably lulling Andy into a false sense of security...

I do love when Andy has straight forward wins.

6-2 6-2 over Goffin.
Scoreline makes it look easier than it was, I think. Goffin was giving as good as he got in long rallies but bottled some big points and had mishaps at the net - one missed drive volley on BP, one missed smash. 7-5 6-3 would be a more accurate reflection.

Just on twitter: Moscow - Kuzzy and Kalinskaya. Lux - Minella, Dodin and Schiavone.

Keys through to the SF. She does everything that bit better than Dodin and has the experience advantage.
Hmm, a bit early for Dodin to take down Keys. There are rough edges to Oceane's game that she needs to smooth out in the offseason (FH, movement, decision making, focus). I like what I see though. Tall, brunette

Either would be great, but maybe he feels like his clay court skills have improved enough to be considered a proper contender. Losing five AO finals isn't great, but he has won a hard court slam, Roland Garros would be something extra special.
Yeah, he now has momentum on clay. It's only in the last couple of years that Andy's realised that RG is a viable proposition - half of it is his own improved consistency and movement on the surface, the other half is Rafa declining. RG was once his fortress.

Also, in my view there is less competition on clay/grass these days, whereas a lot of players can be dangerous on hard.

All that effort from Pavs to get back from 1-5 down to then flop in the TB.
I thought Pavs was mentally in Moscow after losing the first set tbh.

Konta will go as a reserve surely, whatever happens, Serena's health is always questionable, Garbine has just picked up an injury, and hey a few of the others aren't actually made of steel injury-wise.
Makes sense. There may be a withdrawal or two.

Also, anybody see this? The WTA are running their player of the year poll, and Serena has voted! Also, you've got to laugh at Halep's inclusion in the poll. I mean I know they needed five to make a top five, but still At least Pliskova made a slam final!
Well, Halep has her fans. 90% of them are Romanian but...

Djokovic off form or just not really that interested? Was pretty hard to tell. Agut should have closed it off earlier on serve if truth be told.
