Did you see the whole match? I only saw the last set but the commentators were saying that Kyle was great for a set and a half.

Kvitova got easily beaten by Nicolescu in Luxembourg but still overtakes Jo in the rankings I believe.

A very downbeat ending to Eurosport's women's tennis coverage for 2016. Hope Jo Durie has a nice break!

Yes, he was great. He beat himself IMO rather than Gasquet playing better. Gasquet pulled off some great shots throughout but wasn't consistent enough in the first set and a half. Kyle made a couple of double faults at crucial stages and dropped off his energy levels whereas Gasquet got inspired after levelling the match.

Wasn't intially bothered either way about Konta qualifying, but I wanted her to in the end. Seems very cruel to allow her to participate in these photos only to then be told sorry lol, you're out, Kuzzy's in town now. I know she'd probably have been there anyway as an alternate, but still.

Nice to see Delpo in the Stockholm final. As for Petra, being bagelled by Niculescu in Luxembourg sums up her season pretty well I feel. Oh wait there's still Zhuhai for her to look forward to

Do you think Kuznetsova this week was playing each match as a final just so she can qualify for the end of season tournament, as i remember Andy Murray doing the same thing a couple of years ago

Tour finals about to start. Keys v Halep.
I am sure Kuzzy would rather be at the finals jet lagged than not there at all.

Know it's only a 250 so a lesser tournament, but I hope Del Potro can pull off a victory today, he deserves a title to show for his performances this comeback season.

Well that was an underwhelming start, hopefully Kerber/Cibulkova will be better.

Kerber and Cibulkova putting on a show here! Kerber just edging the first set in the tie-break.

Agreed - but they do need to look at their stupid calendar. Starting the finals in Singapore less than a day after the final qualifying tournaments end in Europe is beyond crazy,

The men couldn't cope with a 2 hour eurostar trip from Paris to London so created a weeks gap. Why don't the women have the same gap or at least schedule the last events in Asia near Singapore.

It's been unfair on Svetlana and Jo - one is jet lagged and the other is booted out at the last minute.

I thought they would, but I had to watch the first set out of the corner of my eye because I had a visitor throughout the whole thing.

I agree that it's a stupid situation. I too feel sorry for Svetlana and Jo. I hope Jo gets a match.
Jo looked the classiest one there in a lovely black and white dress.

I do feel sorry for Jo. But there are some recent matches before, during and after the US Open which, on paper, she should have won. Even getting past Bouchard at Wimbledon, I'm surprised she lost that match. These were all missed points. Still, she can try and do her best in Zhuhai, fingers crossed for her.. As for Svetlana, she's jet lagged for sure, but I'm sure she'll get over it.

What is the qualifying for this Tie Break Tens? How the hell did Goran get in a tournament worth $250,000 to the winner?

I'm not sure but last year McEnroe and Henman played.

winner takes all, so no.

ETA: as per the website, it says this:

"How will you decide who plays in those events?
Any player who has been, or is currently a Top Ten ranked player, is eligible to be invited to Tie Break Tens. A wildcard or qualifier who has marquee value in the city where the event is held may also be invited."

How did Marcus Willis get in then?

Maybe he was the wildcard? I really don't know.

I know people in glass houses shouldn't throw stones given Evo's history of lazyitis, but I did have to laugh at his 'normal tennis' quip about Marcus Willis.
