I think he just wants some practice.

Yes.

Although if Jo carries on growing out the fro, he'll have curls to rival!

Also, if Andy doenst reach #1 this year he will have an excellent chance in 2017. Novak has loads of points to defend in first three months and also FO...

Quite disappointed with that result tbh, winning Singapore would have been an incredible way to finish off the year for Kerber. I mean, she's still had a fantastic year, but missing the Olympic gold and Singapore must sting a little bit, especially coupled with the fact that she went 3-5 in finals this year. Still, she won two of the most important finals, and she got to #1, so she won't be too disappointed. Maybe a lesson to be learned as well, she shouldn't have played so much after the US Open.

Happy for Cibulkova though, who now ends the year #5. Not sure if it means much for her slam prospects though, I mean she's always been streaky and did indeed lose two matches in Singapore. She could do well at the slams next year, but could just as easily lose early, no way of really knowing with her.

I am filled with envy over her hair. It's a proper mane like a lion. I didn't think anyone could beat Xisca in that department.

The Andy machine rolls on.

Poor Jo.

Wonder how much Andy has left in the tank by this point though.

Another title for Andy.

Tight second set in the end after Jo clawed his way back, some outrageous points between the two.

Winning Vienna has opened up the permutations slightly.

Andy Murray becomes world No 1 on Nov 7 if:
- Murray wins Paris & Djokovic loses before final
- Murray reaches final & Djoko loses before SF

Wow, so it's actually very achievable. Never thought it would happen
I wonder will Djokovic be extra motivated to keep it though?

The doubles ranking and their points are distinct, so it's more likely he feels he's a bit rusty and could do with a bit of extra court time. It's also a bit of a statement that he isn't injured, or bothered about fatigue.

Andy and Jo often play very good matches, and Jo often manages to keep things close and take a set, but Andy almost always gets the win. He's had a bit of bother with injury this year, so good to see him playing some good tennis this week, and hopefully he'll get back into the top 10 where I think he belongs.

But well done to Andy on another win. I'm glad for the spectators that the second set was tighter, and there was a bit of tension, but pleased for Andy that he got the win in straight sets. Hopefully he'll still have enough energy in the tank for a decent run next week, and to stay injury free until the end of the season.

I think Novak taking up the doubles option is a statement of intent that he feels he's not match sharp enough and to show Andy he's ready for war over the no.1 spot in Paris and London.

Kyrgios going for the 3 week ban instad of the 2 month's ban.

Hopefully it'll do him some good but I think he's hell bent on a road to self destruction.

What a naff load of slam winners on the women's tour this year.

Between them they won only 2 other tournaments apart from the slams.

Cibulkova won 4, though 2 of those were at International level.

Yeah, it's been a bit of a weird year alright, although it could have been very different if Vika didn't get pregnant, she won three tournaments from the little she played, including the elusive Indian Wells-Miami double. If she was still on the scene I expect she'd have challenged Kerber to many big titles this year. Obviously we'll never know though.

Quite an odd stat though that it's Cibulkova who won the most titles this year with just four, and for the second year in a row the tour finals was won by a slamless player. I guess that's what happens when Serena's out of the picture.

I don't see how a player can win 2 slams in a year and be called naff, because its the slams she'll be remembered for in years to come. Personally I'm happy because it means Serena is no longer winning 2-3 slams a year thank god.

Stan isn't exactly hoovering up titles and nobody would call him naff surely?

Good point.

Don't think anyone mentioned it today. but Kim Clijsters has given birth to her third child, a baby boy they named Blake.

No.

I wonder if it's more of a consistency thing though, as generally speaking the titles have been won by Andy or Novak (more or less).

Glad Andy won today, but I don't want him getting No 1 spot before WTF. Which I don't think will happen tbh.

I think Novak (rested and focused) is a good bet to retain his Paris title.

If and when Andy does reach the No 1 spot I hope it's after winning AO. 5 times RU is pretty frustrating, so it'd be nice to have that monkey off his back.

Winning FO would be an unexpected bonus, even though has recently said that's something he would like for 2017.

Wouldn't be the first time. Haase is a bit of an oddball.

Not entirely his fault...his coach was accused of murder. Haase apparently knew the victim

F1 is very contrived atm, I hate that it's become an exercise in tyre conservation. Also, so much downforce that overtaking is almost impossible without aids.

I don't mind the Lewis domination one bit though, much rather him than Seb.

Every little helps. Might have a bit more left for Paris.

Gutted he threw the Nishikori match away, he mentally folded early in the third.

Had he done that, we probably would've won the tie and Andy's WTF would again be compromised. For me, the DC has been ticked off now. Once is more than enough.

Harsh, but I went off her after idiotic handshakegate. Arguably she's already been brought down to earth though? Now it's gone too far - cruel to kick a girl when she's down.

Pomenika, surely?

Thankfully that didn't happen. BMS was exposed by Fancy Bears.

For me, Domi is capable against counterpunchers/good defenders (Aga, Halep, Kerber). It depends on Domi avoiding big hitters/servers (Keys, Petra, KaPlis). She can't get into return games when they're serving well and gets pushed deep behind the baseline in rallies.

She'll have to hope that the big hitters are taken out by the counterpunchers, and she can then pounce on a tired cp.

Not on here, but elsewhere...basically, it comes down to him only turning up at slams and messing up Masters draws with his top 4 seed which he rarely makes good on. Nishikori fans tend to get really annoyed with him.

Really enjoyed Dominika's win v Angelique. She has such a smile does Dominika

I know Kerber wasn't at her best but she has been until the final and Cibulkova was excellent, she's been a 5ft 2 inch breath of fresh air to the womens game this year.
