So he secures being number 1 even as runner up here even if Djoko gets 1,500 points if he wins?
As I understand it, as long as he goes further than Noak this week, Andy will finish the year as number one.

Oh I see. So if Djoko wins the event he will go back to number 1.

No. Andy has to match or better whatever Novak does.

That's right. So by Andy finishing 2nd in his group, and then beating Novak in the semi on Saturday, he secures the number one spot.

Gael has pulled out - Novak to play Goffin tomorrow. Should be interesting.

Hmmm. Could be a surprise result. Little Daveed push him hard last year in Cincinnati and should have won the match.

How does it work out for the alternates? Goffin surely can't make it through to the next round?

Poor Andy has been dragged into the Sky Sports studio.

Apparently not, according to Sky. Presumably because of Monfils 0/2 score but...what would happen if someone won 2 or 3RR matches, pulled out injured, the alt stepped in and then went on to win the final? Would they split the prize money??

Not sure the alt can play the semi. Fed withdrew from the final and Novak had a walkover.

Why are the French players so mentally weak?

I don't care if it gives Jamie and Bruno a chance of No1.

I don't think Bruno can get to number 1 just Jamie.

Yes, thats logical because it wouldn't be fair that the alt had played less matches so would be fresher! Silly me.....

Stan was good at the Skypad. I usually cringe when this is on as it's more awkward than the pre/post match interviews.

Well no as Monfils was already out before he pulled out, the other match in the group is winner takes all. This match is merely so the punters can watch something, and Novak doesnt get 200 free ranking points.

Although I think Djokovic isnt yet guaranteed top position in the group, needs to win one set.

If he loses 2-0 then a 2-0 win for either of the other players tonight will ensure they top the group. I think!

When is Vika set to pop? Must be someday soon? Also saw it mentioned in on twitter that she's apparently targetting a late spring return, which would make sense as the US Open will probably be her target.

Bryans win.

Now means that if Murray/Soares lose 2-0 later on, there will be a situation where three teams are level, having won 4 sets each, having lost 2 sets each, and having beaten one of the other teams in the tie and lost to the other.

I would assume it then boils down to game difference?

Bryans currently +6
Murray/Soares currently +9
Dodig/Melo currently -3

So Murray/Soares could lose by five games tonight in straight sets (e.g. 6-4 6-3) and still get through.
