Wimbledon being on something other than BBC would be so weird.

I wanted to buy tickets for the O2 but can only afford the high-up ones & my friend won't sit there because she's got vertigo - lower tier tickets are too expensive.

I saw tickets on Viagogo in the lower tier for £42 earlier for tomorrow afternoon. I am tempted to go and see Andy.

TBH, look at what the standard has been this far with a few exceptions. I didn't buy tickets for the same reason (minus the vertigo).

I think the powers that be are very lucky the public are such tennis enthusiates. There are some dire matches every year but the fans come. I couldn't justify having to factor in travel and maybe accommodation in the cost.

The BBC get it because Wimbledon don't need the money that Sky or BT could offer - the BBC contract is about prestige and promotion.

I was there tonight and there were loads of empty seats in the lower and upper tier. Maybe people decided not to use their tickets - we sat next to one couple who only stayed for half the first set of the singles after missing the doubles and never came back?

Why go to all that effort to watch tennis for 20 minutes?

What would you have preferred? Djokovic to get a free 200 ranking points, a win by default and the crowd only to get half the games they paid for?

In any case it had no bearing on the rest of the group with the other match being a winner takes all affair.

They get huge amounts from overseas TV rights. Keeping the UK tennis mad for a fortnight every year is worth it.

Overseas coverage will also be exclusively in house from 2018 netting them even more money.

They may have just moved to some empty seats somewhere else - I know I've done that at sports events before now, once it's obvious the people meant to be sitting there aren't turning up.

My friend won two tickets to the WTF so I was there on Tuesday and lucky enough to be in very good seats. Although the matches weren't exactly thrillers I enjoyed being there. But it probably has made me think that I won't try to buy tickets for it in the future as you only get two matches and obviously have no way of knowing if you're going to get exciting ones. It's an expensive do if you have to factor in travel from the North as I do!

But don't want to seem ungrateful, I had fun and added a few more players to the list of those I've seen play.

I vaguely seem to remember ITV used to share Wimbledon coverage with the BBC many years ago.

I'm thinking back around 50 years ago. Can anyone else remember that or is my rapidly fading memory playing tricks on me.

Lol - We used to spend most of the time walking round the room with the indoor aerial try to get a some sort of recognisable picture on our glorious 14 inch black and white set!

I am not old enough to remember that but I do remember the 70's which was pretty similar. How times have changed.
