This has been mooted for a while, and if done right, should be good. With players taking longer to reach the top, they need something to aim for. I'm guessing they'll go for the top ranked players under a particular age, but given that many of them will be rising up fast through the rankings, they may need to weight it a bit to capture recent form, whilst not penalising those with badly timed injuries. Perhaps altering the format to include 16 entrants, with a couple of wild-cards, would help.

It will be interesting to see how they pitch this, and at what stage of the process of rising up the rankings they are aiming for. It will be easier to sell tickets for a tournament with the best players under the age of 23, but it might be more useful in the long-term to have something for the under 21s, because it can be a long road from juniors to the main ATP tour.

Andy getting rattled by a time violation, but then it shouldn't have been given in the first place. c

The ballkids don't even have the balls ready for him to serve. Is he supposed to serve with no balls.

It's crazy, a really dumb call from the umpire.

At least he's held serve.

Andy has been called a few things over the years, bur no one can ever accuse him of not having any balls.

Andy is understandably looking exhausted. He's played a huge amount of tennis recently.

I still wouldn't put it past Kei beating Novak - he may need one of his famous half hour comfort breaks at some point just to wind Novak up, but you won't hear me complaining if he does.

Raonic's level has dipped. His first serve percentage has dropped.

Where's Andy gone? He's left the court since the beginning of 1st set.

Andy and this umpire don't get on.
A match too far I guess
I don't suppose Kei can do us a favour. He looked down and out last night so maybe not.

Raonic really is a mental midget if he loses this.

It certainly looks that way. That break has really knocked his confidence. Never count Da Muzzaman out. Even if he's hobbling on one leg.
