![]() ![]() The WTA still haven't sorted out whatever they're doing with that proposed streaming service they talked up. If they can do it for as cheap as the Eurosport Player currently is then they can take my money now! Already have Eurosport with Sky otherwise that's a cracking deal, especially now Discovery seems to be shelling out the $$$ for more content - shame they couldn't have used that to reclaim the WTA from BT instead of swiping the Olympics from the beeb. ![]() |

That is very cheap for ES Player. Are they showing many tournaments this year to make it worth it?

All the slams except Wimbledon. At the moment they are showing Doha, Brisbane and Hopman Cup. During the slams they stream all courts on the ES Player. They show loads of other tournaments. £19.99 for a year is a bargain.

ES has AO, FO, USO, the Wimbledon Finals, Davis Cup, Fed Cup, Queens, Brum and Eastbourne and some other minor bits and pieces of ATP 250 events.

It is but I just wonder if many matches would be available which aren't already shown on ES 1 and 2.
At £19.99 for a year it's a no brainer. |

At the slams they can stream up to at least a dozen courts. At the masters like Indian Wells they stream the extra courts. Not sure what Sky still covers.
At £19.99 for a year it's a no brainer.

Wow what a rally. Chardy threw the kitchen sink at Andy and it still wasn't enough.

Win 25 for Sir Muzza, had to work a bit extra in the second set for it.

Who do ye reckon may be first time slam champs this year, if we crown any? Obviously far more likely to happen on the WTA, only three of the last ten years we didn't crown a new champ, and with Maria, Vika & Petra all sidelined it only increases the likelihood. Radwanska and Halep seem most the obvious candidates, but I can't help think the slam boat will forever pass them by. Especially so in the case of Halep, who admitted recently she's not yet "mentally ready" to win a slam
Much more difficult to see it happening on the ATP side, the only first time slam champs inside the last ten years aside from Djokovic and Murray have been Del Potro, Wawrinka and Cilic. I'd be surprised if it happens this year too, it's difficult to see the slams going to people other than Djokovic and Murray. Perhaps the most obvious candidate is Raonic, but so far he's only really been a factor at the Australian Open and Wimbledon, and even there he'd probably have to beat one or two of Djokovic and Murray, which is difficult to see transpiring. There's always Nishikori, of course, but I suspect he'll sooner shatter like glass/spontaneously combust/evaporate before he'll get the slam breakthrough. Probably still too soon to consider the likes of Thiem, Pouille and Zverev as contenders, and with Kyrgios, who even knows where his head is at. Can't see anyone else making the breakthrough really, I imagine it's too late for the likes of Berdych and Tsonga. So all in all, I don't think we'll have any new slam champs on the ATP side this year. You never know though! ![]() ![]() Quote:
Oh I didn't know that about him, I like the way he plays but I won't be joining his fan club anytime soon.
Hang on, you'd still support him over Rafa? I know you don't like him but I didn't know how much ![]() ![]() Meanwhile, I found this a bit odd from Genie, where she admits she's not "completely ready" for the new seaon. At first it sounds like she just hasn't been putting in the work, but then she says she had a normal preseason training. So I'm not sure, I think it's a bit of a strange thing to admit. |

Funny looking back upon this Lisa, I wonder was it the straw that broke the camel's back?

![]() ![]() Well, when you put it like that, I guess I'd have to support him over Nadal then so. I think because it was a good summary of the glass ceiling contenders that there wasn't really much to add? I saw Pliskova made a quip about her New Years resolution being to bend her knees more, if she does more of that she may yet be more of a regular threat.I didn't see a lot of pre-season training on her snapchat over the holidays tbh. Mostly holidaying and hanging out with her non-tennis friends. I guess she just felt a little burnt out at the end of last season and wanted a longer break to recover and like she says, wants to gradually ease into the early weeks of this season. Quote:

![]() ![]() Speaking of scoreboards, I don't like the new WTA one, it hurts my eyes. Destanee Aiava became the first player born in the 2000s to win a main draw WTA match when she beat BMS. She's also got a spot in the AO after she won a WC through the U18 play-offs. |

Marginally, of course ![]() I actually missed your post about this season, I was still on tennis holiday. Pliskova is the most likely new winner, but lets be honest a complete random could break through on the WTA. I will not be at all surprised to see Maria win a slam this year, my heart yearns for an Aga slam. I live in hope for her. On the ATP side.... don't trust any of 'em to do it tbh. It should be Kyrgios but he needs to lay off the basketball. |

I'm hoping more time in Australia before the AO will be helpful. We don't want another R1 loss. Although getting Verdasco in R1 was terrible luck. Not sure if he has played Hopman before.

I meant Hopman and Doha are taking a back seat for Eurosport in favour of showng Rafa's match.

Looks like we're spoilt for choice tonight:
WTA Auckland 23:30pm BT Sport 2. WTA Brisbane - 01:00am BT Sport 1 ATP Brisbane - 03:00am Eurosport 1 WTA Shenzhen - 04:00am BT Sport ESPN If my eyes will stay awake, I'll try and catch some on my tablet (via Virgin TV Anywhere). Cibulkova, Kerber, Pliskova (the not so good one), Halep, Venus, Serena, Caro, Broady, Ferrer, Nishikori and Warwrinka all in action. |

It's annoying when you wait ages for a good tournament to watch on TV and 2 or 3 come along at once.
