What a surprise, Rae and Smith are a set and 3-0 down!

The Kiwi wildcard giving it a good try.
Expected collapse after missing the chance to take the first set.

Venus has got to play Osaka as well later.

I, like many others, would love to see Radwanska win a slam as well, but when you look at the players she loses to in slams, it doesn't inspire confidence. It's not as if she can't beat the biggest hitters on tour, but the likes of Konjuh and Pironkova? Not good. And as long as she's content to hit second serves into play at speeds of 70-80mph, I don't really see it changing. Most see Wimbledon 2013 as the one that got away, but even if she got to face Bartoli in the final I don't think it's certain she would have beaten her, despite her terrific record against her. There's just always going to be someone waiting to outhit her. It's a real shame, cause I'd love her to win one. Even if the draw gods worked a miracle and it was the flukiest win ever, I'd just love her to get her name in the books. For craft and guile alone, she absolutely deserves it.

Ok, I love 2017 already. There is some funny one-upping between the Hopman Cup Twitter and Brisbane and their koalas.

On phone so no link, sorry.

Also, Serena and Halep lose.

Edmund into the quarters as Pouille retires a set and a break down.

Will probably play Stan Wawrinka next.

Kind of surprised to see Serena lose, but not uncommon before slams after lay off so...

Vekic lost in the first round of Brisbane, no surprises there. What was the story with that wildcard? Didn't Wawrinka pay for it or it was rumored that it was granted on condition that he'd also play the tournament, or something like that?
I felt a bit sorry for her after that kokk-comment, but then she made her own stupid comments at the USo last year so...

Commentator hails it as the "upset of the year".

The next 361 days are going to be a bit dull then.

Feds ranking will be interesting after the AO. Out of top 30?

He has a lot of points to defend doesnt he. HEs currently #17, so I guess thats where he'll be seeded? Not sure if he plays again before AO or others have points to defend.
There is "some" difference between #16 and #17, ofc the #17 might prove to be better in the end...

The close 3 set loss to Zverev isnt that bad though after such a long lay off?

Well that was a disaster, Venus ended up withdrawing and Serena lost to Brengle of all people. This is hilarious, even Brengle admits how basic her game is.

Love this as well. Mirka like yeah sure kid, I'm always on screen.

That was a good effort from the cricket player, but Kerber came through in three sets.

Konta plays the naff Pliskova in the quarters in Shenzhen. And with Halep knocked out, surely this has to be a good opportunity for Konta to go all the way to the final, for a possible match up against Aga?

Wow what a rally between Andy and Melzer. Melzer is a very tough opponent.

Caro could start the season off with a title. She could even be a surprise GS winner this year, or at least, a runner up.
