Murray being knocked out of the doubles will probably aid his cause. Lets not forget Murray has been in every GS final this year so far, so extra rest time is vital.

Its amazing to think Murray could actually be on for a CYGS if Djokovic had just found this form 6 months earlier or taken a sabbatical looking after his kids or something.

Murray has been so so dominant against anyone not called Djokovic so far in 2016. He may not ever get the number of GS's that Federer/Nadal/Djokovic will get but his consistency is something to be hugely admired.

He looks very gaunt. I would seriously consider changing that vegan diet if I were him.

He's looking dreadful . Hope everything ok.

One of the most remarkable things about Delpo is his backhand. Whilst his switch to a primarily slice backhand in the past felt like a desperate last resort, it's actually now starting to work quite well. I hope he backs it up now and doesn't flop in the next round, although obviously Andy is now favourite for the title. Would be incredible for him if he defends his gold medal, although we'll all know he only won gold because Djokovic lost early

Djokovic might actually have a better chance of winning the doubles gold now the top two seeds are out, although I think his doubles playing partner is something like 40.

What about Rafa's chances? Surely with Djokovic being in his half he must be a contender.

He's only been out for 2 and half months since the French. I would actually think he has a real shot but he's playing both the mens and mixed doubles which leads me to believe he's not really expected to win anything more rather to achieve match fitness for the remaining season.

Surely if he was seriously interesting in winning he would prioritise.

Any time planets!

Yeah, I was not happy about Andy and Jamie losing either. Delpo has made up for it though.

Really gutted about Murray bros losing the dubs. Perhaps they took the Brazilian pair too lightly and thought they would blow hot and cold? No such luck. Brazilian pair really played out of their skins (Sa in particular, he was quality at the net).

Ya, Andy looked far more gutted than Jamie did. Not a lot of time for Andy to recover emotionally - hopefully Leon Smith will be able to bring him back up.

I think the mixed will benefit from so many shocks though, there'll be a clamour to sign up. I'd wager that Andy will choose Hev and Jamie will go for Jo.

Elsewhere, I am pleased for Delpo to get a huge win at a de-facto home Olympics but Nole was a fish out of water tonight. Groundies were very loose by his standards and shot selection was dubious. In the second TB he coughed up the double mini break very meekly with brainless approaches to Delpo's FH. Surely he must know that Delpo's FH on the run is his signature shot?

Shame for Jamie really but then they do have the Davis Cup to fall back on as a duo..

Always going to be a tough one for Djokovic if he wasn't 100%.

I remember reading Venus wasn't feeling fully fit - guess that didn't help.

Yeah, I don't think he really knows how well he can or can't play, or if his wrist will hold up. He said in an interview that he expects to do better in doubles than singles. He was super intense in his opening match so he will still try his best. Who knows, with such a depleted field he could medal at this rate.

I will (very happily) eat my words, my default is to assume Novak will win, I never expected him to lose in the opening round.

Was surprised to see Serena/Venus out. Even more surprised when realized they won both 2000, 2008 and 2012 :O

One off or is Delpo a serious contender for the gold?
I think he will lose next match.

So, in a way surprised about Novak losing, but after his loss at W youi felt anything could happen. It's very strange though, earlier this year you felt he would have no problems reaching 20+ slams, but it might not be that easy...

He played very well yesterday so if his wrist holds up he will be a serious contender.

I don't get the legs out for less than 10 grand a day.

I am in shock with yesterday's results.
Watched until end of William's match and woke up to news of Andy and Jamie amongst other results. Andy will be gutted as he really wanted it for Jamie. I think Jamie should play with Hev who is a good doubles player to give him a chance of gold.
Love Delpo but felt sorry for Novak. He really doesn't look right at the moment.

Rio hasn't been great for quite a few sibling sets now. Murray, Williams, Kichenok and Rodionova. The Bryan brothers are probably relieved they stayed home

Almost forgot the Ratiwatana's too!
