Come on Jo, serve it out.

On a side note, Cibulkova has recently just got married, but has opted to keep her maiden name? Or has she just kept her maiden name for the purposes of the tour?

Yes. On wiki she has the hyphen Cibulková-Navara with a note saying exactly that - Cibulková is used for the tour.

Great playing from Jo. Well done!

Great playing from Jo. Shame the next match isn't till 3am though. Also, shame we don't get to see Jo's doubles match on tv either.

Fantastic work from Jo. Her first ever WTA final? A Venus rematch would be great.

Yes, her first ever WTA final, following on from her first ever match win at Wimbledon (which doesn't sound that great).

As long as Venus is playing I'm rooting for her over anyone. Sorry Jo!

Back at ITF level in Lexington, Kentucky:

Laura Robson, top-seeded in qualifying, has won her first round match 6-3 6-2 against unranked Alexandra Facey. Would have been a disaster to have lost this one.

Freya Christie, Katy Dunne, and Emily Webley-Smith are in action later. Harriet Dart has lost.

Their players are tested as thoroughly as any other country's tennis players.

Serena withdraws from the Rogers Cup.

Tournament suffering a lot from the Olympic scheduling.

Are they only banned from athletics? When I read the story initially, it sounded like they were banned from everything.

So far but the IOC said it would be up to the federations of individual sports to decide if they would allow Russians to compete.

Thanks, I guess that makes sense. Is it also kind of a cop out by the IOC? They have made a point of upholding the ban, but someone else can make the decision to let them compete anyway.

I'm surprised the swimmers weren't banned as well.
