I remember hearing years ago about some young players who were posioned, and one of them died. It turned out the pushy parent of a teenage player was poisoning the orange juice of up and coming players, or something. But still very unlikely, I'd hope.
Sounds like a plot line in CSI!

Hingis' statement on the split. They're still going to defend their title in Singapore.

Rafa keeping busy during the delay, he looks quite invested.

Wasn't it Weil's disease that killed Andy Holmes?

I read is was a bacteria from animals which could have been accidently injested from anywhere. Deliberate poisoning seems a bit far fetched but who knows? Heavy betting on junior matches apparently.

When I looked earlier, no tennis was scheduled, day or night, on any of the BBC Olympic channels. But I would take that with a pinch of salt. They're bound to show at least Murray, Konta and maybe the GB mixed doubles.

I can see Rafa is playing singles and mens doubles again today. But is he doing that mixed doubles match later tonight too? Schedule doesn't clarify. Surely no one can play 3 matches in one day, his poor wrist

Female players who play singles/ doubles and mixed play 3 matches a day sometimes in slams. Martina N did it all the time. A bit easier when matches are best of 3.

I really don't buy it was deliberate poisoning as it can cause mild flu like symptoms that you wouldn't always notice and it can take a few weeks to come out, so how would anyone even know when to do it for the right match?

It's something we've always talked about as our family have always had farms going way back and we had some shops in rural areas, so we had to make sure no stock, including bottles were ever in any danger of being touched.

You can get it by drinking from a bottle which has been stored in an area where an animal could have touched it/urinated on it.

I just cannot see it as being deliberate.

Yes but but... he is precious!

And besides Martina is not entirely human. She is the supreme Android of Tennis.

I think Lucie does it as well the days and BMS as well as others. Oh yeah Hev does it too of course. She won the mixed at Wimby but she was out of the singles by then.

Despite his hectic schedule, Rafa has still found time to check out the golf course.

Women's Gold and Bronze matches are Saturday. They were supposed to get a day off Friday, but that's gone t**s up now I guess, since they didn't play yesterday.

Smashing will keep an eye out for them.

Camera focusing long time on Rafa's water bottle rituals.
