They need to get a woman in somehow and I'm not arguing a lot of the presenters are awful and Georgie Bingham is among them. I personally don't believe she would be in that role if she wasn't a women, but hey ho I'll get hounded by lefties now. Oh well back in my bubble
Most of the male presenters they have who aren't former sportsmen (Goldstein and Durham particularly come to mind) are dreadful as well. My opinion of Georgie is that if you got her out of that environment and put her with someone decent, she might be able to do a good job. Anyone sitting next to Quinn is going to have a hard time because he's an utter oaf.

However, I will say that from what I've heard of her (which is minimal because she's always on with Quinn and I don't listen to any TS1 shows apart from H&J) that Amy Lawrence and Alison Mitchell are far better.

I was just sitting here reading that highlighted bit above and thought what must Michael think about being called that if he's reading it, it really gave me the giggles.

Talking of female sports broadcasters have you heard the lady on TMS? She has a very long winded name, Ebony something or other but IMO she is an excellent broadcaster who knows her stuff and it's a pleasure to listen to her.

Why are people picking on Georgie Bingham? I don't get it, she's far more switched on about sport than most others on the station, the 2 mikes especially, ok some may not like her presenting style but who would you be able to hold the most sensible sport discussion with? Georgie or Parry?

Doesn't matter whether she's male, female or Martian, this criticism of her is just stupid

I've heard her with many other 'pundits' and she is still as poor. Just my opinion I guess, I just don't think she's great.

Lots of us have chipped in about the England team problems, myself included.

Thinking about it all though, I think it really does come down to us as a culture.

I mean how many footballers rejected by one of our top clubs look to move overseas? Players from other countries do. How many of our managers do? We can probably name them on one hand.

It all comes down to the insular nature of our whole nation, from expecting locals in spain to speak english when we go on holiday, to being a rowdy arrogant rabble when overseas. We never embrace another country's culture, we look down on and laugh at foreign customs and in many ways cause others to laugh at our silly outdated behaviours.

Let's face it, we can always spot the Brit abroad; the Italian, Spaniard, Norwegian,mBelgian etc behaves with dignity and respect, dresses stylish and behaves appropriately. Do we? I think not.

You may wonder what the hell this has to do with football, but it's an example of our mindset as a nation and our footballers / teams reflect and portray that mindset. The way we see our fans behave (even those not getting into trouble, yet singing about winning world wars and throwing up in gutters) is actually how we really are as a nation. It's how we are as a culture and subsequently it's how our footballers seem to be as well.

Our footballers are what we deserve as a nation, we can have no complaints and until we change our culture and outlook on life and sport then our national football teams will continue to do what they have always done.

Others sports appear to be different (a little) but for football I think we really do get what we actually deserve .....

Reminded me of being on holiday with my wife in Spain on the Costa del Sol.
We were sat in a beach side cafe enjoying a drink and having a friendly chat with waiters and some of the others (non Brit) when a group of around a dozen men in their twenties came to sit. The atmosphere changed immediately as the yobbish behaviour ,shouting and bawling, and fooling around. Most of us that had been in drank up and left shortly after. Needless to say the men were English.
By the way, I am English born and bred but shudder at the behaviour of some of them abroad. If they were in a club that caters for the so called youth culture then that's different .

Back to TS.
Mr Cork was on with His Masters Voice and it was "Yes Al,No Al,Three bags full Al"
Yuk.

More women presenters needed on TS, and some from minority cultures. How many black presenters are on TS? Not enough.

Surely just get some good presenters. Why does it matter what gender they are or what colour they are?

It's in Charlie Sale's column in the Daily Mail.

Does anyone know whether the morning paper review is available on its own through the listen again feature?

I've just spent a day at Edgbaston surrounded by a load of Pakistani's. I don't know who's worse you lot or them.😁
Brazil has always said tennis shouldn't be in the Olympics, I wonder if he mentions that tomorrow.

Let me know what Celtics attendance is tonight. I've had a bet that Rooney gets more for a testimonial than your lot on a European night.😀

Although I don't personally agree with tennis being a part of the Olympic games nor golf Andy is a GIANT in British sport and fully deserves the honour of holding our flag seeing as tennis is included.

Steve Evans co-hosting with Brazil so talkSPORT again finding the right level of presenter for the station.

Okay I'm biased we had him around here when he managed Rotherham United and he permanently slagged off Wednesday big time, mind you the Owls fans probably gave him good reason they gave him absolute HELL.

Rajar results.

talkSPORT: 3,300,000 listeners
talkSPORT 2: 285,000 listeners
talkRADIO: 224,000 listeners
Virgin Radio: 409,000 listeners

Worrying start for talkRADIO but expected, I like that station more than all the rest put together. TalkRadio is struggling to get people listening in, once they find them I think people will stick with it but it's getting them started.

According to the above figures [if they are accurate because they count in fleeting listeners who probably switch back off or over to something else within seconds of hearing talkSPORT] - it would seem at the moment still people prefer listening to a bloated half-drunk Scotsman and all the other talkSPORT unqualified misfits rather than a topical current affairs station with decent presenters.

Good Kick-Off show last night with Saggers and Matthew Syed, seem to have a quiet, respectful rapport with each other, made for an insightful show. I do worry about Saggers with Stan gone, does this mean the death of "shouty" SAGGERS!

Even Big Brazil admitted he'd prefer Nicola Adams to carry the flag instead of wee Andy Murray. What a shock as he usually is all over the Wimbledon Champ.
He doesn't think tennis, golf etc etc should be in the Olympics but only track and field athletics, boxing and swimming. His interest is very narrow and he dismisses dozens of other sports as irrelevant and not worthy of his attention.

Al was doing lots of smarming around every person coming on the show and giving a good chance to about 12 clubs in the Championship although he thinks Newcastle is a certaincy to win the 2nd level.

Danny Murphy back on with Murray so still taking the shilling from the people despised on Merseyside.

Also on with Murray was a man who hardly speaks (strange for radio).

I don't think The Wireless Group are despised on Merseyside. Their shareholders haven't voted on the News Corp deal yet, they have until 17 August to decide whether to accept the offer.

Ofcom will then need to approve it before it goes ahead.

Listening figures over a long period of time suggest that maybe some people, make that a lot of people, actually like a lot of stuff on the radio station. Your crusade William still has some way to go

* PS I don;t get the attraction of the breakfast show, clearly others disagree

Kelly Dalglish has gone back to work at Sky. Maybe she doesn't have an issue with News Corp / Murdoch. Interesting though.
