Take out the news, the travel, the ads and the eternity he takes to speak at the start of the show, I bet he doesn't do 2 hours.
His show lasts 2.40 minutes, its been timed for yrs by myself , if that helps ?

Tuned in this morning to find Alan's off already having started his traditional pre-Christmas wetting before the main boozing starts up in earnest.

While the cat's away Quinny's took the chance to do us all a Christmas music video how wonderful. Watch how he holds his headphones like John_Lennon singing 'Gimme Some Truth' in '71, ... a particular fav of mine from the great great man.

Add-on.
Play to the end to hear what Mick thinks about himself as a footballer.

Happy Christmas everyone.

One of the clips of the year was a question asking Porky how big Surrey was in square miles.

He said a million

Can see it come up on a search but can't find it when I click through

Cheers anyway

I think I've got that somewhere in the collection I remember it but I'm not sure it's from a quiz on Surrey.

Happy Christmas peeps,
Fired up the laptop but Christmas morning radio has never been a favourite, Paul Ross on talkRADIO churning out usual Christmas morning yuk and same on LBC with Steve Allen so tried talkSPORT instead. I was half shocked to hear Brazil was on air. [or was I because I think he's done it before] Alongside Mr Brazil was Ray Parlour and John Cross so three doyens of the English language sharing their talents with us on Chrimbo morning.

Naturally the subject matter was the Premier League with Alan concerned about his Jose, Quinny then popped up on the phone from his racing stables to tell Big Al he was there with his wife feeding his twelve horses (quote) "a carrot" (unquote) his usual staff are all off for Christmas, he said they'd cleaned them all out [the horses not the staff] and then "thrown them over a carrot" - now I'm left wondering if he was just joking about feeding them a single carrot to share but then thinking about it more he was probably being serious remembering past things.

Then that Ray Wilkins bloke was on the phone, Brazil asked him how he was and unsurprisingly Ray answered he was in rude health so then it was back to Premier League chat because they'd swerved away from it for something like three whole minutes.

Very sad news yesterday about Rick Parfitt something like 50 years of great entertainment he will be sadly missed. All the knockers of this great band of an age that they shouldn't really be commenting because they weren't around only have to go on YouTube to see how good they were, type in "Live Aid Wembley 1985" and watch them completely steal the show even though they were thrown on first as the 'warm-up' act.

RIP Rick.

On a brighter note hope everyone has a great day today we're off to visit the grandchildren [4years & 2years] in half an hour hope we don't get knocked over to the floor as we walk in with their presents they are excited like all kids are on this special day.

In desperation I've been flicking around all the stations and came upon Jim, Perry and Bob Mills doing a round up of the year............... obviously pre-recorded but it's been an enjoyable couple of hours and still on for another hour

I don't suppose you really are are you?, but on the off-chance that you are you are the only person I rate at that station and I have said it consistently throughout the back pages.

Either way a very happy Christmas to you Sandy.

Thanks Billy, I'm in the Swiss Alps and it's just heavenly. It's been a long alcohol fuelled day so it's an earlish night for me. Off to Italy tomorrow at the crack of dawn by alpine train, very excited.

So Happy New Year Billy, hope it's exactly what you hope it will be ...

Haven't heard yesterday's H&J show yet but they said they were featuring classic clips so I might catch up on it later. On the Christmas Eve show they were playing clips too, all of them heard before but still classics here's just a few I picked out.

Alan Brazil - Eating breakfast on air.
Alan Brazil - Gloria Hungerford.
Alan Brazil & Graham Beecroft - Wrong Olympic rowing event.
Alan Brazil - Greek names.
Alan Brazil - Bob Monkhouse.

Brazil: "I always have struggled with Greek names"... or indeed any name, word, or language - especially English!

Shock no stations presenters elsewhere make any mistakes when broadcasting 20+ hours a week.

Good stuff Billy. Have you got Dants' Graham Courtney impression? It was the funniest bit of H&J's always excellent (pre) Christmas Eve show for me. Initially I couldn't tell whether it was Dants or actually the real Graham, until he started laying on all his stock phrases on thick. I really like Graham as a reporter but he's by far the most mimmickable member of the talkSPORT reporting crew!

I didn't catch the Courtney impression Diff, to be honest I don't know what he sounds like!!!. Mind you I'm still on a high from Wednesday beating the top of the league on their own turf tonight live on SKY to be thinking straight right now.

EDIT: [11.23pm]

Have to say old Mick was full of admiration for Sheffield Wednesday after the game praising the Owls to the hilt even though we'd just stuffed his beloved Newcastle United.

Read his kind words about the Owls below in his latest tweet.

Alan's tweeted he's gutted about George Michael, gutted he never got the chance to ask him where Club Tropicana is, as it sounds like his kind of place!!!.

RIP George you were fabulous and gone too early.

Seeing as Wednesday are riding high in the league, let me take you back to the last time I went to Hillsborough. This was for a third-round FA Cup tie in January, 1997.

For this occasion, Grimsby fielded a rather ambitious 3-4-3 formation, including:

Jason Pearcey – a rather ropey goalkeeper
Ashley Fickling – a bad full-back playing at centre-back
Tony Gallimore – another bad full-back playing at centre-back
Graham Rodger – a very slow centre-back who was past his best and retired 12 months later
Gary Childs – a winger who hated tackles playing at wing-back
Kingsley Black – another winger playing at wing-back
Kevin Jobling – another bad full-back, rated one of Shrewsbury's worst ever players, playing in midfield
Tommy Widdrington – one of the most disappointing signings Grimsby have ever made

Plus Clive Mendonca, Neil Woods and Jack Lester, all central strikers. Not two outside forwards like Hazard and Robben plus a central striker as most teams would play in a 3-4-3, but three central strikers.

And, of course, Wednesday were in a higher division than Grimsby at the time, and had better players.

What could possibly go wrong?
