That is interesting as we (Watford) were in the *same league I think and drew with SW twice in the cup a year later only losing on penalties (Di Canio got himself sent off with a crazy rant.)

*Both won promotion in 1998...

I couldn't find anything on YouTube for this, but do you remember this game from about 7-8 months before we lost 7-1 to Wednesday?

http://www.independent.co.uk/sport/s...x-1306593.html

Watford kept alive their slim chance of avoiding relegation to the Endsleigh League Second Division with a spectacular 6-3 victory over Grimsby last night that dragged their opponents back into relegation danger.

Starting in the knowledge that defeat would end their survival hopes, Watford clearly did not feel the pressure. They went 4-0 ahead after only 21 minutes, with two goals each from Craig Ramage and the 19-year-old striker David Connolly, who both went on to complete hat-tricks. It was Connolly's second in four games.
It must be said that our manager rather lost the dressing-room that season after he hit our best player with a plate of chicken. We have never recovered from that season, it was such a missed opportunity. We were second in the early stages, absolutely flying, we were so lucky to have Bonetti who had played in the European Cup Final and was way too good to be playing for us. We battered Luton 7-1 in the FA Cup, comfortably beat Premier League West Ham 3-0 and drew 0-0 with Chelsea and could have beaten them. Of course, we managed to screw it up completely by physically assaulting our best player.

Indeed I do - we were pretty much doomed but scored 5,6 and 4 in 3 consecutive home games before Muzzy Izzet and Leicester sent us down on the final day!

Not the biggest fan of the darts but have watched the last couple of nights and the standard is spectacular.
Guys are losing matches with 100 plus averages.
That's top quality.

Marnin' Bangers,
Watch all the darts in this house never miss a single throw, thanks by the way for not blurting out any results as I'm two days back because I prefer to record each session and watch it recorded to allow fast-forwarding of the pesky boring adverts after each set.

Really enjoying it but wish 'rent-a-crowd' would cut down on the chanting, for me it spoils the tension aspect and is thoroughly annoying. There's been some good matches so far but of course we all know Uncle Fester in the green shirt will win it in the end.

Mibbees MVG may win but the guy going for the hat trick has a great chance.
The crowd don't bother me, it's better than the deathly hush at the snooker.

For sure Anderson has a great chance but I just can't see van Gerwen not winning the big one after already winning twenty four tournaments this season alone. I hope he doesn't though as he's not a player I particularly like that much.

MVG odds on everywhere
Best price Anderson is 9/2 and Taylor 10s.
Think Anderson has a higher average than MVG and looked deadly on the doubles for the first two sets last night.
Can see some of the Bangla millions going onto Anderson.

Agree love the darts its just about the only thing I find worth watching this time of year.

I find the crowd at these events interesting they pay all that money to go and spend much of the time chanting away barely watching much of the action.

I went to one of the premier league matches last year and you are basically in a room full of drunk people!

I like a drink but having people around you drunk and constantly standing up and screaming down your lug hole gets tedious after a while!

I caught a bit of Cundy and Goldstein basically saying the likes of Villa and Leeds deserved to be in the Premier league ahead of the likes of Hull and Swansea..

Well thank goodness football isn't just based on how big a city is and the support a club gets..

Yet...

This might end up a bit of a rant FB but did you see the Daryl Gurney v Mark Webster clash?, - [I won't mention the result in case anyone's watching it all recorded like me and hasn't seen it yet] - but the crowd were disgusting in my view. They constantly barracked Gurney every time he was throwing important out-shots, it was so bad it clearly was ruining his concentration and his game.

At the end of the match, and I've never seen this before in my life he was so annoyed he just walked off stage and never acknowledged them at all and I didn't blame him one bit.

The problem is Barry Hearn who now practically owns darts on TV wants these football mob-style crowds it pays handsomely. The players, the commentators and the referees are too frightened to speak a word against it because Hearn wants this type of circus darts.

I hate it with a passion, a bit of noise of course, the audience is there to watch good darts and have some fun, but not when the players are throwing the darts, they should show some respect and pipe it down.

Eventually I can see darts losing its appeal on TV, certainly to the level it currently is, it's now over-exposed on three channels, the same 2/3 players win all the tournaments. [one player in particular of course winning most things]

I think in time it might make a lot of people just turn over and watch something else, and these inebriated, fancy dressed, deafening crowds chanting the same boring chants day after day after day aren't helping.

Rant over.

Just been watching darts again.
32 maximums in eight sets is crazy stuff, world record for a nine set match is 34
Looking forward to gubbing the currant buns tomorrow, great way to see the year out.
Hail Hail Sleeps this will be a good one.

Who is this total idiot of a newsreader on this morning? How can he not mentioned the legend Ray Davies receiving a knighthood, yet revealed that Victoria Beckham has been awarded a OBE (for fashion)!
