Sir Andy, Sir Mo and Dame Jessica. Moose ain't going to be too happy Personally I'm all for Andy getting it he's done incredible things, I definitely think it all need reforming but as things stand now it's the right decision to award him with it in my view but like I say I am all in favour of it been reformed taking it away from such people as politicians, show-business people and yes sports people. |

I can see Murray being the sort of guy to turn it down or just not really being that bothered about having the title.
Mo Farah on the other hand will probably keep reminding the whole world about his! I did hear most of the honours do go to ordinary people - just that like most things in life its the ones given to famous people we hear about. |

This might end up a bit of a rant FB but did you see the Daryl Gurney v Mark Webster clash?, - [I won't mention the result in case anyone's watching it all recorded like me and hasn't seen it yet] - but the crowd were disgusting in my view. They constantly barracked Gurney every time he was throwing important out-shots, it was so bad it clearly was ruining his concentration and his game.
At the end of the match, and I've never seen this before in my life he was so annoyed he just walked off stage and never acknowledged them at all and I didn't blame him one bit. The problem is Barry Hearn who now practically owns darts on TV wants these football mob-style crowds it pays handsomely. The players, the commentators and the referees are too frightened to speak a word against it because Hearn wants this type of circus darts. I hate it with a passion, a bit of noise of course, the audience is there to watch good darts and have some fun, but not when the players are throwing the darts, they should show some respect and pipe it down. Eventually I can see darts losing its appeal on TV, certainly to the level it currently is, it's now over-exposed on three channels, the same 2/3 players win all the tournaments. [one player in particular of course winning most things] I think in time it might make a lot of people just turn over and watch something else, and these inebriated, fancy dressed, deafening crowds chanting the same boring chants day after day after day aren't helping. Rant over. ![]() Basically in that environment you can not do anything to annoy the crowd or they will have hundreds of drunks on their back. A friend of mine went to the Sheffield Arena Premier league this year and said he will never go back as there was trouble with drunks fighting near where he was and they had to be removed by security. I suspect there is a lot more of this than gets reported and you can see there is a huge amount of security needed to try and prevent trouble. Knowing how much the Arena charge for beer and the amount that gets consumed I bet its a huge money earner for Hearn and the venue. |

I was absolutely disgusted by it. This is their livelihood. Gurney was virtually in tears after the match, perhaps he didn't handle it very well, but it's absolutely classless to behave that way. Ultimately, though, this is the price you pay for appealing to the lowest common denominator and plying them with alcohol. I've got used to it more over time, but sometimes I just can't be bothered with it because it's more like a zoo than a sporting event. Which is a great shame, as the quality of play that the top players produce is quite staggering now. |

Who is this total idiot of a newsreader on this morning? How can he not mentioned the legend Ray Davies receiving a knighthood, yet revealed that Victoria Beckham has been awarded a OBE (for fashion)!
. The song was originally going to be called Liverpool Sunset but Ray had a change a heart. Sorry off topic but I'm stuck indoors with the flu, feeling ghastly..

Did you hear the caller on LBC's Andrew Castle show this morning berating Murray on his knighthood?, he was saying why give him one when he spoke so publicly about favouring Scottish independence before the last England/Scotland referendum vote. He went on to add had the vote gone the other way he wouldn't have been eligible to get it.
Personally I'm all for Andy getting it he's done incredible things, I definitely think it all need reforming but as things stand now it's the right decision to award him with it in my view but like I say I am all in favour of it been reformed taking it away from such people as politicians, show-business people and yes sports people. |

I'm sure when I was little, every team used to play on Boxing Day and New Years Day. Part of why I used to love those festive footy fixtures. Now they're just like normal boring weekends.

Just listened to a bit of "Clash of the Titians"
You can sure tell who their mates are (*Big Sam) and who aren't (Hodgson) *Saggers even admitted he met up with BS drinking champagne to apologise for having a rant about him... Not sure what the rest is like but no doubt its conflicting... A great Premier league ("best in the world") with wonderful overseas managers/players on one hand but on the other not enough home grown talent coming through on or off the pitch. |

They put out a Clash of the Titans show over Christmas alas it'll be no surprise to anyone it wasn't a touch on the old ones they used to do before football took grip of the station, nothing like the old days in the Dickin/Whale/Boyd calibre. I'm not sure of the full line-up they chose to do it this time I didn't hang around long enough to find out on hearing it was the Premier League again they were talking about, I heard Parry, Saggers and Durham but didn't hear who else.
I had been hoping talkRADIO would do one this Christmas but they didn't, could have been a pretty good line-up if they had bothered as well. [James Whale, George Galloway, Julia Hartley-Brewer and Jon Holmes chaired by the brilliant Iain Lee] |

Bit annoying that TS haven't bothered to put their revised schedule on the website for the festive period
Tuned in at 6.00 for The Press Pass as advertised both on the website, the Radio Times and the EPG on the TV.............. it's not on !

Anyway thank gawd Arsenal beat BFS's mob imagine the hideousness of the next few days if Allardyce had managed to pinch points from Wenger, I guess it'll be quiet about the match now. |

Fair point Sean - I was only really jesting.
Murray won't let it affect his game though and just treat it as normal. Tend to agree with your at the end of their career point but they get given out so often its no surprise really. |

![]() They obviously have the sheer talent to start off with, but then with hundreds of hours practice they hone it in to almost precision throwing. I'm a believer that it's still a pub game not as sport but I do marvel at their great talent in throwing a dart especially the big scorers like van Gerwen, Anderson, Chisnall, van Barneveld, Wright and Lewis. Who's gonna win it tonight?, at the start I went for an underdog to win it this year, .... Phil Taylor!!! [Phil Taylor an underdog what a laugh but he was] now he's gone and my prediction is all washed up I don't really care all that much who wins but it would be nice for Anderson to get the genuine hat trick. Don't know if Alan will be watching tonight's final but if he does he might be best staying sober for this one after last year's cock-up. http://bit.ly/2hFFul6

Happy New Year everyone. I've only just listened to C o t T. Got to be the worst one ever. There certainly wasn't any clashes, in fact they agreed on nearly everything, especially the amount of time they spent rubbishing Wenger. Durham must have wet his pants. They made Parry the butt of their jokes which of course he is. One big Joke. Cascarino was the one you missed Billy, he's alright but he is like the rest, tends to state the bl##ding obvious plus he is on so many shows at the moment he will be doing Danny Kelly out of overtime. These guys are stealing a living at the moment, let's hope they improve this year.😒 |

Maybe I'm still up on the ceiling after demolishing that lot at Ibrox but did I hear correctly that Ian Wright is on with Durham tomorrow?
Do hope he is for I like Wrighty and wish he had played with Henrik at Celtic but Henri had a broken leg when Wright was at Celtic. Cmon Anderson tonight, threepeat world champion would be great. |

Barry Hearn was on the Brazil show and sounded like he's really into his darts calling 'a set' "a frame"
![]() By the way I now fancy Anderson in tonight's final now I've seen his new darts!. >>>http://bit.ly/2iVZWzg<<< |

Stunning quality in the darts final.

Ah, the Mighty Quinn has just described Pep Guardiola as "arrogant", can there be anyone less self-aware on Earth (besides Donald Trump but that's another thread.)
My prediction for 2017, the Breakfast Show will get worse, strangely that is just about possible .. 🙁 |
