In the end getting away from Murdoch's influence is almost impossible in the media. I think they're protesting any direct links with the Sun, who still employ Kelvin McKenzie and under-reported the big Hillsboro verdict,

There's no doubt giving the way the shows line up, and how the Sun and Talksport will probably have similar people they're aiming at, that there will be many tie-ins and sponsorships, and Sun journos on the shows.

I don't think The Wireless Group are despised on Merseyside. Their shareholders haven't voted on the News Corp deal yet, they have until 17 August to decide whether to accept the offer.

Ofcom will then need to approve it before it goes ahead.
They will vote it through. The offer is generous. Secondly, OFCOM will give it an ok because there are no competition issues.

I hope Colin Murray changes his mind and decides to stay. I know some of you don't like him but I really enjoy his shows, more than H&J even. It's a light hearted look at sport with occasional poignant comments, just what's needed for the 10-1 slot. Love the fact that he has different guests each day which provides a variety not seen in other stale same old shows.

Sadly he may not stay, in which case I will be over to Julia Hartley-Brewer on TalkRadio as I was whilst Parry & Graham were sitting in (awful presenters)

Listening figures over a long period of time suggest that maybe some people, make that a lot of people, actually like a lot of stuff on the radio station. Your crusade William still has some way to go

* PS I don;t get the attraction of the breakfast show, clearly others disagree
Hi Righthand,
It's a fact that fleeting casual on/off listeners no matter how short a time they have been tuned into any radio station, in this case talkSPORT are counted in as regular listeners. The recent Rajar results for talkSPORT claim they have 3.3 million listeners but it's entirely possible and some would say probable that half that figure switch them on, say ##ck this for a lark and turn to LBC or something else.

My crusade contines until the day I see this built on that bloody site at 18 Hatfields, London, SE1 8DJ.

Yes turned on for a laugh and it was those two finely tuned athletes Kelly and Quinn talking about the Olympic Games, what parts could these two play at these Olympics do you think Bangla?.

What about Kelly in the Sumo wrestling event and Quinn looking after and feeding the horses at the Equestrian?.

I see Kelly as another Tom Daley and Quinn would be good to watch at the high jump!
Wouldn't be any medals but we would get a laugh.
Can't believe that I'm not as enthusiastic about these games as I have been before.
Loved every bit of the London games, just hope once it all starts I get into it.

At the end of yesterday's show Brazil and his co-host for the day, Steve ?? ended up discussing where they would be going for 'refreshments'. It was definitely implied they would be repairing to wherever they decided immediately ... [probably still in the same gin joint as we speak?]

Feel the same Bangla, the time difference won't help, anything halfway decent will be happening at 2.00am UK time.

The London Olympics were fab. One of my favourite memories was an occasion when I was on the phone to a friend - who is to say the least "a bit of a geezer" (in a good way of course) - when he suddenly announced he was hanging up because the dressage was about to come on the TV ..

Ground Hog Day on TS as Big Al misses the show again and motormouth Kelly rolls in.
He's on so often these days that they might as well call it TALK-KELLY.
Never misses a chance to slip some music in, to remind all his fans that he was a music journo, and that he knows names of obscure bands. However he's not the worst on TS
and the RAJAR figures are good so who cares?

BF Al is on a jingle in which he brags "the figures are at a record and it's all down to ME"
and he seems unsackable as he gets away with stuff that would get anyone else at the station the Big E (dismissal).

Micky Quinn still working for them despite all the history of the new owners to be.Quelle surprise?

What's up with the sound coming from H&J's outside broadcast today. It reminds me of someone consistently farting!

Steve Evans Ven, or as we called him around here when he was managing Rotherham Fatty Evans. He actually comes over quite well on the TV and radio but as with Warnock you wouldn't want to be anywhere near him if you were at a game he turns into something else during games.

When the Owls played his Rotherham United away in the 2014/15 season he did a Mourinho and ran down the touchline with his belly flopping everywhere to wind up the Wednesday fans after they'd scored what he thought was their winner with five minutes to go to the end of the game.

Unfortunately for Mr Evans Wednesday scored TWO more goals in added time to win the match 2-3 and he was absolutely gutted for weeks afterwards. Ignore some of his comments in this post-match interview straight after the game he did think they had won it with 5 minutes to go despite what he sarcastically blathers.

Maybe Al's jetted off to his favourite spot in the South of France for the weekend to soak up some sun and bubbly, would be richly deserved after four hard days graft at the grindstone keeping talkSPORT the biggest and best sports radio station anywhere on earth and the outer galaxies.

It's great to have Matt Holland's Kick Off: The Player's Lounge back for another season tonight with them doing an in-depth EFL preview, looking at all three divisions properly rather than just the Championship. It's excellent to hear Geoff Peters working as Matt's co-host, the two of them have a really strong rapport. Geoff's Football League round-ups last season were the highlight of this show for me and with Danny Higginbotham now a regular on Sky Sports' Championship coverage on Fridays, it makes a lot of sense to get him in the studio. Matt Lawrence joined them after 8pm. Holland is a burgeoning talent as a presenter and I really rate his show, it's easily one of the best on talkSPORT.
