Utter tosh Billy, Hes won 2 cups in twelve years should have been shown the door about five years ago, if you ask me No doubt Ven will he on shortly saying hes the best thing since sliced bread, Well I'm sorry but he aint Ven ! ( BTW) I hate the way they talk about him on tS
I don't think he's the best thing since sliced bread, when did I say that? He's a football manager doing the best he can, he can be stubborn and he sometimes gets it wrong, who doesn't? My loyalty lies with the Club and whoever is their manager I will support [unless of course they do something extraordinarily wrong, which AW hasn't].

I'd like to know why you always have a go at Arsenal and Wenger, I can't imagine you are in the least bit interested in their progress? I would never question anyone's loyalty to their team, man crawled out of a cave millions of years ago, looked around and saw another man crawling out from another cave and they had a fight. Football is totally tribal, not really much more to say, we all like who we like ..

Didn't Panormal or a show like that do a feature on Sam Alladyce and his son a few years ago involving dodgy transfer dealings?

They did Bangla. The same programme also had a lot to say about Harry Rednapp. I've often wondered how and why that all seemed to go away?

Yep, the Panorama programme immediately sprang to my mind when I first heard of these revelations... having been something I had completely forgotten about until then. I believe Allardyce's son was involved in some way.

I was just listening to the H&J show on repeat, and there was a rather unfortunate commercial.

http://talksport.com/radio/listen-again/1474977600#

If you haven't heard it, you can hear it about 11:30 into the second segment of the programme. It is priceless.

I agree with all of your posts here. I will say that I think it's a shame in some ways because I think Allardyce is actually a decent manager, open-minded to trying new things, and was probably the best appointment possible (not saying much!).

But he has been an absolute idiot. How he could get involved with this stuff when he's already financially secure for life, it is just sheer greed. The video is completely damning:

http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/2016...reat-after-te/

It's not like when the NOTW stitched up John Higgins, by getting him to make some very vague statements, and he obviously had no intention of any throwing a frame in any significant match. If anything he's leading the conversation, and has even agreed to meet with them a second time.

I will be amazed if he survives, Glenn Hoddle was sacked for far less.
Big Sam is a manager who's claim to fame is he has NEVER been relegated like Pulis (similar football style eh...............) he managed 3 teams to promotion- the latest one, via the play offs when they should have won the division comfortably.....Kept Sunderland in the premier league last season after playing Everton who sacked their manager the day after

Big Sam is a lucky manager no more no less

A) As soon as anyone says something about him, you're on the the thread asap

B) Doing his best ? Trying to sign Luis Suárez, by offering a £1 extra & AW has been stealing a wage for the last 10 yrs, Its the clubs money he should be spending to get your team to the next level, But he wont why is that ?

C ) I've made only two posts asking you about AW ........... Show me my posts having a pop @ him ? I also think Asenal play the best football in the prem, We call them the English Barca up here !

What a suprise, they have wheeled out the "footballers union rep" Ray Houghton to blather on about how great Sam is and its not his fault. Cannot stand this idiot. A player could literally bludgeon someone to death and Houghton would stick up for the player. Such a shame as I loved him so much as a player for Ireland.

That programme went out ten years ago this month. How do I know this offhand? The night it went out, his Bolton Wanderers side were edging past Walsall at the Bescot in the League Cup Third Round with two late goals in the last three minutes. I had looked this up the other week, as it turns out this was our last meeting with Bolton until our marvellous win over them the Saturday before last. I was at the Bescot that night in 2006 - there was a national media presence there like you wouldn't believe, certainly an unusually large level of journalists even compared to other us v Premier League cup ties staged there.

He did pretty well with Bolton if you look at where they are now. The fact is that English managers have not managed any of the clubs likely to win the league or even trophies recently. He was the best available.

"Utter tosh"?, I'll take that onboard Sleep but I still wish Wenger had managed Sheffield Wednesday instead of Arsenal and won us three Premier League titles, six FA Cups and six Community Shields instead of us languishing about in the lower divisions and winning jack $h!t.

Arsenal have a pretty glorious history down the years and I think it proves how good their manager is when he's officially their most successful manager ever.

'At him Ven'! ... if I see the bugger I'll tip over his hotdog van.

He did indeed. Bolton were an established Premier league team when he left. ironic the then chairman Gartside wasn't that sorry to see him go

When I was a kid I saw a guy on TV and he was called king of the ticket touts, name of Stan Flash man and big Sam and Lord Redknap always remind me of this dubious character. You wouldn't buy a used car of any of these guys.

The thing is some would say that's not a fair comparison. But as I was saying to someone the other day, Arsenal played Wednesday in two cup finals in the first PL season, and Wednesday finished above them in the league. In 1993-94, Arsenal finished 4th and Wednesday finished 7th, in 1994-95, Arsenal were 12th and Wednesday 13th. Even in the first season when Wenger took over, Arsenal were 3rd and Wednesday 7th. In the next season, Wenger's first full season, Arsenal won the league.

It's not at all impossible that Arsenal could be where Wednesday are now and vice-versa. It just seems inevitable that Arsenal have become this massive club, but it was far from inevitable.

Official - SACKED.

"The Football Association has confirmed Sam Allardyce has left his position as England manager by mutual consent.

In a statement, the FA said: "Allardyce's conduct, as reported today, was inappropriate of the England manager.

He accepts he made a significant error of judgement and has apologised. However, due to the serious nature of his actions, The FA and Allardyce have mutually agreed to terminate his contract with immediate effect."

It was inevitable. There was no way back for him. No-one should feel sorry for him, he hasn't been 'naive' as people have said on TV this evening, he was sunk by pure greed.

Bet he'll walk off with his £3 million a year still going in the bank. Not a bad move really, paid up without having to earn it and take all the flack connected with the job.

They just can't lose can they.

TalkSport is at its best when discussing corruption and greed in football, but it isn't the same without Stan.

To be honest I think it's a great decision. A chance for the FA to press the reset button. Rooney HAS to go from the England team.
