The interesting thing about this for me is that not only has Allardcye been caught red-handed, but also look at the other people the Telegraph have caught. Obviously they're talking it up and making it sound as big as possible, and based on what the agents are saying it's quite possible things have gone on behind the scenes which can't be proven.

But look who they've named today...the assistant manager of Barnsley, the owner of Leeds, who was already a hugely compromised character anyway, and the manager of QPR. Okay, the last one is a fairly big deal, but it's still not a Premier League manager. Not exactly Guardiola and Mourinho, is it?

I suppose I should reserve judgement until we hear the whole story, perhaps they will reveal something later this week. But it seems to me that Allardyce is the only major figure stupid, greedy and immoral enough to get suckered this way. I'm sure they will have tried to get other Premier League managers and major figures in the game, but seemingly they got nowhere.

They are not going to name everyone in one hit but let the story gather it's own momentum and release new details when they see fit.
They have set it all up for a big reveal on Sunday which is the traditional day for big stories.

On Sunny Jim's show there's some old hack who is defending Allardyce tooth and nail.
The way he's talking it'll be only a short while until Allardyce is appointed a knighthood or a lordship. Talksport are taking calls from alleged supporters who want Allardyce as their manager ( Villa and Sunderland at the fore).

Apparently Allardyce received half a million wages for the 2 months in the job, plus another million as a pay off, plus it cost the FA £3 million to get him from Sunderland.
That's £ 4,500,000 ( four and half million quid) for 67 days and one game.What a shambles.

Allardyce himself said he should be sacked, and took the dough and got out of the country "tout de suite". Rest my case m'lud.

By the way. Allardyce had his fingers in many other pies, apart from the England job. He was a part owner /director in quite a few companies covering a range of activities
so he was getting lots of money apart from the £60,000 per week from the FA.

Isn't it absolutely appalling chucking £4,500,000 away on employing that guy for 67 days 'work' when you think how hard up the NHS is for instance.

Sky TV and talkSPORT are all over the story but it's Sky's money that's causing the temptation in the first place I'm not for a second suggesting we go back to the Jimmy Greaves days of 20 quid a week but my god it's gone completely MAD the money in football.

Barnsley FC have now sacked assistant manager Tommy Wright so it looks like the Telegraph have got that one right as well, it doesn't bode well for the as yet unnamed premier league eight does it I bet they're sweating profusely right now.

Well if they have taken a bung then quite right too ... But not to worry, we all know that "Defender of The Faith" Mr Alan Brazil will be screaming "stitch-up, entrapment etc etc .. " on their behalf on his morning show.

I actually think.....no probably hope is a better thought....that this is a watershed moment for the ABBS....that's IF the Telegraph do have the proof to name the 8 managers in yesterday's report.

Alan is correct in that if they don't/can't etc then people like him and Cundy will just go on about it all being a set up with no real sbustance apart from the "entrapment" which they are moaning about.

Allardyce was a strange appointment in the first place and said some odd things, especially about Rooney that say if Wenger had said them they would have denounced as piffle.

This whole thing is odd....I just hope the Telegraph have other names....but is it in their interests to print even if they did. I am sure that if the Sun or Times had this info as they are part of the Murdoch empire it wouldn't see light of day as it wouldn't be wanted to be out there

If they do/can print then Alan will have to backtrack and he doesn't seem the personality to do that

On Durham s show he is saying how it was wrong for Allardyce to make fun of Roy. What about Goldstein and Jacobs who have both been ridiculing Roy about his speech impediment?

I heard it mentioned earlier today the FA are to ask the Daily Telegraph for the names of the eight, I think I'm right in saying the Telegraph don't have to hand over the names if they don't want to but the story is deepening by the day.

Eight premier club managers is nearly half the division so it's guaranteed big names will be involved this could be the story of the decade when it finally all comes out.

That has been rather swept under the carpet along with Big Sam criticising team selection and the fact Wembley was even built but as I said before those certainly didn't help his cause I feel..

Just added to the charge sheet really - Allardyce even made a point of saying he was wrong to criticise/take the mick out of other people..

Its why I don't think they will give Hoddle another go - just very bad PR wise at a time when football generally is trying to have better access to matches for the disabled.

And of course not many employees would get away with criticism of their employer in a public manner ( of course he wasn't to know that I guess!)

Hoddle is a dinosaur. I spoke to a leading sports journey a while back and he said that Hoddle will not get a go for these reasons:
1. Unpopular with players in the past
2. Didn't pull up any trees as a club manager at the highest level after England
3. Been out of the game for far too long

The Telegraph will go with the names if their lawyers allow them to. Alladyce threatened to sue the BBC after Panorama but never did. Go figure. He wasn't prepared to risk losing and was worried about what might be said in court.

Mike Newell provided names to the FA without anything ever being done.

The Telegraph will want to get max value out of their story BEFORE they give anything to the FA which leaks like a sieve.

Brazil is just an apologist for football and footballers. He'd condone anything. The trouble is that the authorities never take any action. In the USA the FBI got involved in doping cases and FIFA corruption and people were put away. Have a listen to Tom Bower on Kick off last night or listen to Paul Hawksbee just before 4pm today. Clearly the game is rotten.

Remember as well that it was a Panorama documentary about Fergie's son which caused him to fall out with the BBC. Of course, Ferguson stated that this was all nonsense, but as far as I know he never did anything such as sue the BBC. He just said they were arrogant (not an unreasonable claim) and that Alistair Campbell had written a good piece in his book about them (not the best source!).

I'm sure this sort of thing was endemic, but I doubt it is at the highest level now because they all make millions. I'm sure the odd manager at the lower end of the Premier League could be tempted, but it would be extremely surprising to me if one of the established, big name Premier League managers was involved because they're all worth tens of millions.

That's what most surprises me about Allardyce, his estimated net worth is £10 million, he was on a £9 million contract, he was reportedly on exactly the same salary at Sunderland, he has other business interests, he's 61 years-old and is unlikely to go hungry, he will get other jobs in football after England is over...it is just abject greed.
