He just said they were arrogant (not an unreasonable claim) and that Alistair Campbell had written a good piece in his book about them (not the best source!).

I'm sure this sort of thing was endemic, but I doubt it is at the highest level now because they all make millions. I'm sure the odd manager at the lower end of the Premier League could be tempted, but it would be extremely surprising to me if one of the established, big name Premier League managers was involved because they're all worth tens of millions.

That's what most surprises me about Allardyce, his estimated net worth is £10 million, he was on a £9 million contract, he was reportedly on exactly the same salary at Sunderland, he has other business interests, he's 61 years-old and is unlikely to go hungry, he will get other jobs in football after England is over...it is just abject greed.”

Allardyce as you say is rumoured to be worth around £10 million but he still tried dipping his greedy dirty fingers in the till trying to get more so I think you could be wrong here and some pretty big names will be in the Telegraphs keepnet.

Alan ranting on about the EPL sueing the Telegraph is stupid.”

Yep Saturday too, when the newspapers are more expensive, all this build-up is grist to the Telegraphs mill. The weekend will be very interesting I would think.

It will be interesting to see. Surely it cannot be the biggest names, though. According to a simple Google search, Wenger is paid £8 million per year and Mourinho £15 million per year. This is one of the things people don't consider about the England job; Wenger, for example, would be taking a 50% pay cut, even if the FA increased his salary by £1 million over what they paid Allardyce. I'm sure he's going to sign a new Arsenal contract, I certainly would!

Alan is correct in that if they don't/can't etc then people like him and Cundy will just go on about it all being a set up with no real sbustance apart from the "entrapment" which they are moaning about.

Allardyce was a strange appointment in the first place and said some odd things, especially about Rooney that say if Wenger had said them they would have denounced as piffle.

This whole thing is odd....I just hope the Telegraph have other names....but is it in their interests to print even if they did. I am sure that if the Sun or Times had this info as they are part of the Murdoch empire it wouldn't see light of day as it wouldn't be wanted to be out there

If they do/can print then Alan will have to backtrack and he doesn't seem the personality to do that”

Interesting to see the front pages this morning......the sun and times not even mentioning the football story... And fair enough in one way as that's the way things work....why promote another papers story and keep giving it legs, but i think it shows that Murdoch papers wouldn't have done this story in the first place.....no surprise there!

Jesus Crist, Brazil is STILL banging on about "name them, name them, sue the paper if they dont name them !". They even dragged on the Stoke chairman just now, obviously for the sole purpose that he agrees with Brazil. This idiot has lost the plot (long ago I would say).

Sadly Al's brain has been slowly getting pickled by over-use of alcohol for the last 35 years so we're not going to get much sense out of him these days. To bang on still about suing the Telegraph if they don't announce the names of the mystery eight is an indication to the state of the poor man.

You can just imagine the court case. The defendant, the Daily Telegraph, stands accused of defamation and libel for not naming the claimant in their article.

Last night Parry and Graham had a right go at Cundy who was still spouting that Allardyce should still be England boss and the Telegraph was wrong to print what Cundy called rubbish. The 2 Mikes are both ex hacks and defended the Telegraph and slagged off Cundy.
Mike Parry said to Cundy " If you think it's all a load of rubbish and irrelevant and a waste of time then why have you spent the last hour talking about it" 1-0 to Parry game over.
Goldstein also thought it was all a waste and that the Telegraph should have printed all its info about bent people on 1st day ,he said " I don't know why they are spinning it out"
It just goes to show that these people haven't a clue how the media works (ditto Alan B)

very little mention of another poor display by ManU but they did say that Rooney "had a hand in the goal". Oh yes he did, he miskicked the ball which went over to Ibrahimovitch who headed it into the net. Well done Mourinho and Rooney.

Poor Alan.
After bragging all week that he couldn't wait for it and he was going to put his cash on Europe he finds they are 4_0
down after four games.
His boot will be through the TV if this carries on

Oh Christ ! The agent has just been on the news saying he "made up" the story about the 8 managers on the list. Brazil will be unbearable now.

Of course, it could still be true and its just the agent backtracking as he has been threatened with liable action himself.

To be honest I actually agree with a lot of the anger on Talkcrap for once. The British press have not done themselves much good here, knifing Alladyce is fine but so what?

The bloke didn't do much wrong, perhaps a prat but most people in football (and the media) are prats.

This story is going no where.

Doesn't really matter though, is basic point of suing the 'paper when no names have been named is still ridiculous.

Emm ... ?
I kinda thought what the agent was saying was probably what the newspaper people wanted to hear? His back-tracking says it all, it has to be remembered that if what has been said is true, it is not libellous.

Dont forget the Telegraph did this for GREED

To sell more papers, to get more adverts, to make more money for their rich owners and shareholders

Do they care about England football team? no

They dont give a f* about the national team, they just got a easy scoop to make money

Sorry to disagree but this story is going somewhere and has already gone quite some way...

1. England manager sacked after one game.
2. Barnsley assistant manager Tommy Wright sacked.
3. QPR have an internal investigation into the conduct of manager Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink on hold while they await all of the Daily Telegraph's evidence.
4. A further eight premier league managers possibly to be named in the near future in connection with taking bungs.

I'd call that somewhere.

I'd ban Alladyce for life from football management and the same for all the rest if found guilty of the allegations.

Does anyone know if the info the Big Sam gave out was pretty common knowledge by the way? - Is every agent and manager thinking "f me we all know that"?

Seems like the agent at the centre of some allegations might have been telling a few porkies..

I suspect there may have been threats that involved slightly more than legal briefs.
