Compulsive listening I would not think.
I listened to most of it to remind me why I like supporting a clean little football club while Kelly fawned over the most over rated manager on the planet. After a week of exposures of pure greedy football managers quite ironic to have this dodge pot on TS.

How will they react to Arsenal and Liverpool winning late on?

In very different ways I suspect!

Liverpool - gusty fight back from behind?

Arsenal - jammy dodgers who got lucky?

Interesting guest on with Alan today, for a change.
Curtis Woodhouse the ex footballer who turned to boxing.
Honest talk, warts and all, about his careers so far. Tells about his faults not just his achievements.
What a change from the usual bunch of cliche driven ex managers "Friends of the statiion".

Can't remember him as a footballer but 2as a fair boxer considering he had no background in the sport.
Probably one of those lucky people who is very good at whatever sport they try. Wish I had that talent.

He played for us for a bit, he quit football for boxing after playing for Grimsby, can't really blame him.

I sometimes get him mixed up with Terrell Forbes, who was another centre-back we had at around that time who had sex with a 15 year-old and was accused of rape:

We also tried to sign someone at about that time and they decided to become an estate agent instead. It wasn't a very salubrious period.

Have to laugh at the guy choosing to be an estate agent rather than a footballer!
Wages can't be up to much at Grimsby.

Thought CW was lined up as the next Sevco boss.

Ray Parlour has just said he would rather see England win the World Cup than Arsenal win the Premium League!! Big Al has called him out on this and I'm with Alan. If I happen to be at home when an England game is on I may watch but possibly not, England games are a side-show as far as I'm concerned. Sad, but true

Heard that.
Agree with Big Al, club before country every time. Think Ray was taking what he thought was the diplomatic line.

I would guess the greater part of all football followers are far more interested in their own club than our underachieving national side. I was out in the pub yesterday and saw Rooney doing a press conference on the 3 TV sets and a large projector screen [they've made my local a sort of sports bar] thankfully the volume was low and the music in the pub loud and I didn't have to hear the usual boring soundbites.

Will someone inform me on here as soon as he's made his record cap and gone. [inserts yawning smiley]

Me things Waymond was talking out of his @r$e.

I can't believe you would rather Celtic win the League than Scotland win the World Cup.

I think the former is far more likely than the latter.

I would say the same about Manchester United and England - always club first.

Ha ha, good point Ram. I'm London Italian, but Arsenal come before any national team. I always wanted England to win in years gone by but really can't be asked anymore.

Damm right I would.
You can add the League and Scottish cups to that as well.
International football is a poor substitute for club football.

That baffles me, especially as you win the league nearly every year.

Maybe people's opinions would change if we had good English & Scottish sides. Still now we're dreaming.😀

I think if you are a committed fan to a club and watch them regularly then I would agree that it's club before country. On the other hand for armchair fans without a particular allegiance then maybe the national team ( when it's doing well) could take preference.
Many fans support both home club and national side

I notice that Alan did not say about his thoughts on Scotland in this context and wouldn't comment on the forthcoming game v England when Ray was trying to get an answer.

On the odd occasion when England have been doing well in a tournament eg 1990 and 1996 the pubs were chocka with fans but when as recently, they are doing poorly then
the support drops.

Being an old codger, I can remember 1966 and can assure that the country was well behind the team which, after a poor start , played well. My disappointment was that Jimmy Greaves( best England striker IMO) didn't play in the Final.
Happy days though.

It was pointed out a few years ago that the banners at England games tend to be from lower league teams supporters with very few from the Premier League. It was put forward that the fans of top sides are seeing a better standard of football at club level than at national and that the lower league fans get a chance to see a better standard at England games - although over the past year I would seriously question that.

Yes I think you're right fans in this country did used to really get behind the national team much more but years of dismal failure on the pitch coupled with these top players earning hundreds of thousands a week while punters can only earn £300/400 and still being shat on from a great height with extortionate admission prices has finally driven most fans to give up and just stay interested in their local club.

I'm not saying everyone has given up on them but a helluva lot have.
