(And I back Allardyce for the job in terms of that he was the best English candidate which actually isn't saying much!)

He's a pretty decent manager and the best available. It may be England's best hope of performing respectably to simply play a fairly cynical, defensive game and be hard to beat. Allardyce is good at setting teams up to do that. Personally, I don't think England have the players to succeed playing expansive football.

Whatever Allardyce does, it will be almost impossible for England to win the World Cup because all the teams from the Euros will be there, plus Chile (world ranked number 5) who've just won back-to-back Copa Americas, Argentina (world ranked number 1), who I expect to have Messi back despite what he's said previously, Brazil (world ranked number 9) are always strong, and Colombia (world ranked number 3) have an excellent team at the moment. I wouldn't give England a snowball in hell's chance of winning it.

I know it's not a sport talkSPORT cover but I finally got around to watching the World Matchplay darts final from the Winter Gardens Blackpool last night I'm currently fitting a brand new kitchen at Billy Towers and am behind with a lot of things.

Michael van Gerwen beat Phil Taylor 18-10 in a one-sided final but what I wanted to say was Taylor was a complete disgrace on the stage how he acted throughout. No longer able to dominate an opponent of such high skill any more he set about attempting to put off and upset van Gerwen by acting childish throughout the night because he was losing, Taylor's been a great champion, he didn't act like one on Sunday night.

When he watches the recording back as they all do he should feel ashamed of himself and believe me I'm no van Gerwen fan but it really irked me how Taylor acted.

Every few years they change the England manager [always after yet another disastrous and embarrassing tournament] and the football media goes nuts how great they think he will be, .... 4 or 6 years on he's sacked, they bring in another one and the circus continues until he's sacked and so on and so on.

This is exactly what will happen with BFFS, it'll happen because even with JESUS as manager he couldn't win them the World Cup our players simply and truthfully are not gifted enough to win it, nor have the desire, team spirit and determination to see it through to the final conclusion.

We're currently ranked 13th in the world league table I think that table was composed one afternoon after they'd all been to a pub somewhere and had got themselves drunk silly because no way are we that good.

And before anyone responds calling me a traitor I just want to say two words, ............. SAM ALLARDYCE. [Go on just seriously think about that]

4.Attacking Arsenal/Arsene Wenger for not spending like a drunken sailor and being careful with the club's money and for the number of injuries suffered by the club.
Ignoring that they've finished above his old Spurs for the last twenty years and that Spurs haven't won the Prem for 55 yrs and Liverpool haven't won it for approx 26 yrs.

Where else can you hear unprofessional, unqualified idiots night and day making fools of themselves and in Brazil they have the KING of comedy everything he does and everything he says is amusing to so many he'd go down brilliantly on the comedy circuit as an Alan Partridge type act. [although of course in reality he'd just be being himself]

I heard a bit. My son was in the car and he actually likes TS. Why do Rpert and others put up with it. The man is a grade A tosseur.

I've found that TS2 actually recycles the decent bits like the paper review.

Great day for Brazil yesterday, he finally got a winner. He must have put a lot on as it was a short priced favourite.
Great day for Corals yesterday, although they had to pay Brazil out & fill him full of booze they know they will get it all back & more at the same time as getting loads of publicity.
Great day for Talksport yesterday as everything fell into place. Promoting gambling & boozing, it couldn't have been better. Think of all the young listeners that now think life is so easy, just drink & gamble you can't go wrong.

I gave up on the breakfast show long ago. Brazil is toxic these days. Being a convicted drink driver is one thing, but to show no remorse and actually revel in your status as a boozer to millions of listeners every day is too much to bear. Even the jingles promoting the show mention his drunken ways.

If anyone ever doubted the safe status of Alan Brazil at talkSPORT this should absolutely clear it up once and for ever, he rang them at 5.00pm yesterday to tell them he would be too sh!tfaced to turn in for work this morning and to get someone else in instead.

Now THAT'S what you call knowing your job is secure!!!.

I just hope the new owners move Brazil on.

He is probably the poorest presenter on Talksport, and I can't possibly imagine why they would keep him on. He must also be the least reliable and the most expensive?

Don't see it myself, if they're going to be linked more with the Sc*m, they'll play up the boozing and gambling more I reckon. Alan's a proper bloke, drinks, gambles, likes brexit, likes banter (bullying), doesn't understand depression, doesn't understand much then what's in front of his nose, loves Brit managers and nostalgia. He's a perfect fit

There's only one way he's going, and with his life-style it's not inconceivable (not that I wish it on him or anyone, before hackles get raised).

He's also the highest paid at £350,000 a year which is not bad money if you can get it for 4 hours sitting down and talking b###ocks five times a week. Over the sixteen years he's been there he's literally had millions out of them, been flown to countless top sporting events around the world, played on the top golf courses, enjoyed centre court hospitality at Wimbledon, Cheltenham, the Grand National, the Monaco Grand Prix, the Goodwood Festival of Speed, the Scottish Open Golf Championship, the British Open Golf Championship, the British Grand Prix, Glorious Goodwood, Sir Bobby Robson Celebrity Golf Classic and the Arc de Triomphe.

Add in free meals in top London restaurants for on-air name-checks, free drinks in bars and clubs for more name checks, free golf equipment for even more name checks and free flights for plugging various major airlines and you get some idea of just what he's had out of them over the years.

Unfortunately, some people are impressionable. I've only looked at the other TS forum once when someone linked to it on here, and while there are plenty of people quite happy to slate Brazil, he has his fair share of defenders as well. Some impressionable people will always be drawn to drinking and gambling, thinking it's cool and masculine.

I remember hearing a story about George Best that made me realise that he partly used to drink and gamble just look like a jack-the-lad character. Obviously he became addicted to alcohol in particular, but it's the whole deep-rooted image acquired over many decades that those things conjure up that draws people to them.

That's why I think it's so irresponsible of TS to promote these things so strongly and suggest that you're somehow deficient and not 'one of the lads' if you don't drink and gamble to excess (at one time no doubt smoking would have been part of it), when, of course, the complete opposite is the case!

Brazil is lucky that he's a functional alcoholic because many people's lives fall apart once they're addicted to alcohol. Naturally, adults should be able to do these things, but they should be told about the consequences of them, not mocked if they don't want to do them to excess.

think you've hit the nail on the head. That's what he is but sadly he will never admit he has a problem. We can criticise him, complain or even admire him as some do but ultimately I fear we will be facing a future without him if he doesn't see how his life is going. It's such a shame and sad for someone who was once well loved

I've been thinking about the England situation a lot recently; about fans reaction and what the media have called for.

So many problems have been put forward and it seems we just don't really know what we want.

Firstly there's the cry that the players don't want it enough and like the manager doesn't show enough passion. Well Keegan had passion and so did his players but we fell short. We were pretty rubbish generally actually but hey we had passion .....

Then there's the argument that we are not switched on enough tactically. Well Hoddle was but he was hounded out by the press and fans for non-football reasons (would not have happened in any other country).

Then we hear that players don't care and get paid too much. Well Ronaldinho and Bale get paid a lot and they did pretty well.

Then our coaches aren't good enough so we employ top foreign ones. Do they make a difference? No.

Let's not forget the fact that we need a winter break .... Aside from the exhibition matches that would take place in that period, with God knows how many foreigners playing in our leagues, it doesn't seem to cause them a problem as they go on to do ok in summer tournaments.

Oh let's also go on about there being too many foreign players in our leagues. Let's go back to the 70's and 80's when we had hardly any of them and remember the tournaments we failed to qualify for.

Admittedly we have had a few successes; a world cup win on home soil with a dodgy goal. A hand of God quarter final defeat where we clutched at straws for an excuse. A semi final defeat in 1990 which was only possible via a lucky extra time goal against a poor Belgium team and a couple of 'went down easy' penalties in the quarters against a better Cameroon team than us. Oh yes let's talk about Euro 96 with a lucky result against Switzerland, a great Gazza goal against the run of play v Scotland, one good win against an uninterested Holland and the only penalty shoot out we have ever won after a bore draw against Spain.

Oh yes we are a sleeping giant.

It's not the fault of the manager, whoever is in charge will reap the same rewards. It's actually not the players fault. They actually do their best.

Maybe it's a mentality thing, maybe it's the way we are brought up and coached right from an early age.

Or maybe it's our fault, the supporters - for simply expecting too much.

One thing I do know is that I'm fed up of Talk Sport banging on looking for a solution. Wish they'd just accept that we're not good enough and move on. There are more important things in life!

Losing to Iceland in a way exposed the faults of some players and the manager more which might turn out to be a good thing but as you say will we ever change?

Easily qualify but fall in the tournament..

I agree you need more than passion to win though...and I do think some players are caring but not just good enough.

As for Hoddle - well even in 1999 the press were always looking to catch people out off guard and why was he even making comments about disabled people as if they are 2nd rate and to blame for being just such?

That's a great post you hit the nail on the head with so may things if I was to continue I'd only be agreeing with you on so many things in it.
I'm a big moaner on England but I am only so after over 50 years of total despair watching them in tournament after tournament apart from '66 of course but we don't mention that any more cos it upsets Sleeper and Bangla.
