MG is on holiday. They normally don't do the podcasts when one isn't there. Although, bizarrely, I had the rubbish one with Andy Townsend and Porky from Saturday pop up on my iTunes. Porky really shouldn't be on with anyone else, if it's a show with a partnership. Everyone else takes him too seriously. Only MG seems to have him pegged.

I actually used to enjoy porky and townsend when they were on in the morning however agree last saturdays show was poor, he showed porky way to much respect,maybe he was after more work after losing his itv job.

Townsend was always the straight man/second banana to Porky's slapstick routine and it should be no surprise that he browned him. Cascarino is a different prospect. He has had a column in the Times for ages and has more brains and self awareness than your average ex-pro pundit.

Brazil, as we know is just another relic. The trouble at west Ham is a serious matter. Hooliganism hasn't gone away despite football supposedly going up market.

Andy Townsend didn't need a 'Sky/BT audition' - he is working every weekend on the Premier League world feed coverage as a pundit and commentator. When he left as ITV's number 1 he took on more work with the PL.

Obviously I prefer the Two Mikes through the week but listening to Geoff Peters covering Extra Time highlights how terrible the current weekend Extra Time is. Peters is presenting the show like it was a year or so back. He had a bit of chat, guests on the phone, but crucially producer David came in for 10-15 mins per hour to chat about the headlines in the papers etc. Someone to bounce off in the studio.

Just a far better programme than the dreary weekend editions with Latchem and his buddies who come in, or as well as Bob Ballard does, he is basically left alone to chat to phone guests with no live newsreader or producer to really bounce off.

Talksport as you will know Ram get all their information off the live studio monitor feeds via SKY and the BBC what they can't get off the monitors they get from red-topped newspapers that I would guess Abraham has picked up on his way in.
Basically if it's on the monitors and it's in the morning newspapers these clowns at talkSPORT will just repeat what they've read or seen on the screens.
They really are amateurs and one big joke and it's about time someone from that place came on this long running thread and fronted up answering some questions.

Darren N Adrian asking why men act stupidly at football. They should ask themselves why they act the same on radio and get overpaid to do it.

No mention on here of the latest RAJAR figures for talkPREM and I can't help there either but talkRADIO I can happily say have increased their listenership by 75,000 to a reach now of 303,000 listeners, not a bad increase considering talkRADIO has had virtually no outside advertising and most people still not knowing the station even exists.

Whatever talkSPORT has managed to do, win more or lose some I expect Liam Fisher will be putting out his usual bunkum and baloney statement praising everyone there from Brazil to the station cat.

Thanks Sleeps. Taken the week off of work to celebrate hitting the big 3-0. Been listening to Jim White all week, never heard the show before. Needless to say, the quality of radio has aged me terribly this week lol

I've been off all week and listening to more TS than normal during the day. I've noticed that the Jim White Show (which I've found insanely dull, why does he sound like he's selling shit on QVC? Or is that just his real voice?) is plugged and advertised constantly - even during the breaks of his own show!!! You rarely go through a break without hearing an advert for his show and H&J and Drivetime seem to plug an interview or titbit from his show at least once a day. I get that it's new and the listening figures are probably pretty rubbish, but I don't remember Colin Murray being talked about as much when that was new. That was a while ago though so could be mistaken.

Came the closest tonight to phoning talksport than I ever have done ...

Listening to Saggers and guests talking about the problems at West Ham. They were calling into question the club, the stewards, the police, the location of the stadium etc.

Yet not once in 45 minutes of radio did I hear them state the obvious ...... in that if people behaved themselves then there wouldn't be any problems.

Why do they seek to blame the authorities and go down the 99.9% of fans are top blokes route? That's simply not true. A lot of fans are aggressive and thuggish, yet talksport simply blame authorities.

The biggest issue is still the hooligan attitude, not the response and talk sport should take a stand on that,

Morning all......great post above frosty as I was thinking similar things about JW.

TBF I've probably not heard a full show of Jims but perhaps you don't have to. It does just seem to be football (EPL) chat for three hours and it's just......dull and bland.

Now perhaps that's what the station think people want but I could do with a bit of diversity to break it up.

That's why I think H and J works...two or three different segments every half hour about various sports (football mainly but not all) and some "cornerstones" through the show.

I personally think JW could be a good presenter of a good show but it looks like it's just not been thought through for what to actually fill the time.....except chat
