This constant focus on the manager is such utter stupidity.
The players are not good enough. It doesn't matter who manages them. Isn't that obvious by now?
Look at the team that played the other night.
Hart - I think is a good keeper, but has been loaned out by Man City.
Walker, Rose - decent full-backs, but does anyone expect Spurs to win the league, or any trophy, or even make the top four?
Cahill - completely mediocre player, is having a poor season, plays in a back three at Chelsea not a back four.
Stones - well-known to be defensively suspect.
Henderson - bang average midfield player, never really creates anything, tries hard.
Dier - having a poor season, had a poor Euros, has shown nothing to suggest that he's a top class player.
Lallana - would you put him among Liverpool's best players? Is he even guaranteed a place in their starting XI?
Rooney - dropped by Man United, clearly way past his best.
Sterling - I think has great potential, still you wouldn't say he was the best player at Man City, or anywhere near de Bruyne, Aguero, Silva, etc.
Sturridge - doesn't get in the Liverpool team.
Why should we expect this team to compete with the best in the world? If you put this team in the Premier League, it would probably struggle to make the top six.
Furthermore, I would say now that there isn't a single player in the England team who can remotely claim to be the best player at their Premier League club (obviously English players never play outside of the Premier League, until they resort to a pay day in the States). The closest we would have would be Kane or Vardy, who play for also-ran Premier League clubs.
The results of the England team are entirely predictable, and it's unbelievable to me that anyone could attribute them to the manager at this stage.
