There is going to come a time surely when it has to be asked why there are two 'Radio 5' channels. What they can cover seems to get less and less every year.

Huge Alan was "loving it" that England "threw it away" last night.
He must have been sick when England were leading 2-0 into the 89th minute.(if he was watching although he said he'd been on a freebie lash up yesterday and so was probably away out of it at the time). His delight at Spain getting 2 late goals was apparent.

Alan was plugging his "mate's" place where they had such a good day yesterday and gave him free publicity in return for getting plenty of vino and raucous singing " thought I'd lost me voice when I woke up".

I do hope that Alan takes more care of himself in future because if he carries on with all the booze he's going to damage his health.

There are 3 test matches that last 80 minutes each and take place early saturday morning. A bit of pre and post match waffle and you'll have a 3 hour show. Don't think that constitutes an existential risk to 5live.

Well over on the 5live thread there are always complaints about 5live having sport on ahead of other programmes so can they really win?

Think Billy nailed it when he compared the breakfast show to Partridge
I listen for maybe ten minutes now just for the sheer awfulness of it all. Suppose I'm waiting for him to mess up so spectacularly that tS have no choice but to boot him out the door.
He doesn't even pretend now to care about the sport he is supposed to know about.

It has crossed my mind at times Alan could be damaging his health with his lifestyle, what is it now the recommended alcohol drinking level for a man 14 units?, that's the equivalent of about nine small 125ml glasses of wine, 14 single measures of spirits or seven pints of lager or beer a week and I'd bet sometimes he goes up to at least 16 units a week when he's been out on benders all week I hope he sticks to the guidelines I'm sure he does mostly.

Watched the darts all night and only knew the England result after the game, a shame they threw it but disappointment is the England way. Reading the posts it seems Spain were well under strength last night and maybe it's a good job or Spain might have won and saviour Southgate wouldn't get that 4 year contract.

I've said it before Bangla for Brazil to get the sack he'd have to run amok wielding a meat cleaver slicing heads off all over the talkSPORT building and even then they'd probably suspend him on full pay for only a month and then try and bring him back because the biggest greatest radio sports show on planet earth can only survive with Alan Brazil presenting it he's the best thing since sliced bread and life as we know it would end if he was not there.

Listened for a few minutes this morning Brazil was waxing lyrical about going to ascot on Saturday being in a private box.... I'm not a regular listener but remember him bragging about his freebies when the worse than useless Irani was his sidekick-seems as though nothing has changed

Wayne Rooney in the news re boozing in early hours at the weekend.
Expect the booze brigade at TS to come out with a load of excuses for their hero.
Booze is a way of life for some at TS and so it's normal for them to be kaylied at every chance.
Happy Days are here again.

Sound like the back of the Arsenal bus, is alive & kicking in 2016 !

They're doing "Square Presenters in Round Topical Holes" next door on talkFORUM, which means unsuitable people covering important news topics.

Examples ....

Mark Bosnich, terrorism correspondent. He covered the Sydney siege in late-2014 simply on account of him being available and him living in Sydney.

Darren Gough talking to a Cambridge University professor about climate change.

Adrian Durham doing a phone-in after the Ian Huntley verdict.

Ronnie Irani discussing finance with David Buick. ['phwoar, good effort that']

Ray Houghton talking about professional golf. [No No you really shouldn't Ray you haven't played the game at the top level like they have]

Brazil on Britain's taxation system to Chancellor at the time Alistair Darling.

Dickin who hated royalty on the death of Princess Diana.

Cundy hosting a show after the Paris shootings.

But best by a country mile was Mike Parry covering the 9/11 atrocity when he said Osama Bin Laden look very similiar to Mick Fleetwood from Fleetwood Mac and then panicked and quickly added "Ahh..ermm...um...not that I'm saying Mick Fleetwood had anything to do with these attacks..No...No....not at all, no...."

Don't know if it's true but Iain Lee apparently said on his show last night that talkRADIO are moving from talkSPORT towers in the new year. I suppose you have to take that as good news if your listen to them because at least Mr Rupert's not shutting them down, I wonder if Virgin are moving too if it's right.

Well that's Alan sorted out for more free ale and grub.

To be fair, he was on air as the news broke, so it would have been a bit daft to ignore it or go into a republican diatribe.

Yes that's very true it was from him that I learnt the news in fact and I only added him to the list to stretch the numbers to be honest.

I briefly heard Cundy, surprise, surprise, defending Wayne Rooney.

Unfortunately, he made the argument that what footballers do is blown out of proportion (possibly true) and that if Andy Murray had done the same thing it wouldn't have been front page news.

Yeah, I can really see teetotal Andy Murray, who doesn't even drink champagne after winning Grand Slams, turning up at a wedding halfway through Wimbledon and drinking and smoking.

Was listening to last nights "Two Mikes" this afternoon. Ol' Porky doesn't seem to like Henk Potts very much. Didn't have anything nice to say about the bloke.

I think Alan used to get the Barclay's executive suite/box invites and Mike did not.

It was quite funny listening to Cundy - he kept saying Rooney was only doing what a lot of sports people and footballers across the country and world do which might be fair..

But then the story broke about 10 others players going out and getting hammered so his tune soon changed.

Calling it a disgrace and lack of discipline because clearly he didn't want to believe a whole load can get drunk.

I did feel a bit for Rooney as he probably meant well joining in with the "fans" but as they ought to know it only takes someone with a phone to take an iffy picture or two.

Personally I'd be asking if somebody with a "knee injury" ought to be out partying so late - that is a lack of professional behaviour?

I'm no big fan of Rooney as a player these days but if I were him I'd think 'stuff it, if I'm going to get this much grief from going to a party on a night off, when others go out clubbing and don't get anywhere near the grief, then I'll just jack it all in'.

He doesn't need money, he's nothing left to prove, why carry on?

Rock Stars are not role models, nor are footballers ....

Parents are role models. I wish society would get a grip of reality.
