It's also funny how the whole 'Arsenal aren't big yet because they haven't won the champions league' thing only started on their station in 2012 when Chelsea won it, never brought up before then, it was just about Arsenal haven't won a trophy in this amount of years. If this is the case then Chelsea have only been big for 4 years and Man city are not a club on the map yet as they are also without the elusive CL trophy.
When Man United won it the first time against Bayern Munich, they were extremely lucky. Plucky yes, lucky definitely. They also were outplayed by Juventus in the semi-final and should have gone out. They showed a lot of fortitude, but I wouldn't say they were necessarily the best team. Liverpool equally showed tremendous guts when they came back from 3-0 down. If you look at the team on paper, clearly it wasn't that great, but they also finished 37 points behind Chelsea that season! When Chelsea won it, they finished 6th in the Premier League that season, and they were also very lucky. Barcelona and Bayern Munich both missed penalties in normal time that would have put them out, and they really won it by putting up a blanket defence. And look at the performances of Bayern and Barca in Europe since then compared to Chelsea. So there's no way Chelsea were the best team, but they did well to win it. The only time I would say a Premier League club has really been the best was when Man United beat Chelsea. And then United were completely outplayed by Barcelona next season. And I think it will be a long time until we see another PL winner of the trophy, and despite the hype that the PL generates, the record of PL clubs in the Europa League is terrible, suggesting that the depth that we hear about all the time is, in fact, a myth. While it is undoubtedly the hardest fought competition, in my view the quality is not particularly great. |

Although I don't mind Jim White and co in general, he really has to be the worst interviewer I have ever heard! He comes accross as so pleased that someone has decided to grant him a few words that he asks the most anaemic questions possible.

Trouble with the English teams in the Europa league is not many actually want to be in the competition!
Man U and Spurs will probably hope to go out in the next round. |

Place in the CL for the winner so probably the easier way for Manchester United to make it to the CL next season.

Today's COTW was a Porky tribute.
He really does talk garbage but it still makes me laugh. Actually COTW is about the perfect exposure to Porky ramblings. Much more could drive you mad. |

We're going to stuff the Bowling Alley b******s this time. The pride of Moseley is at stake! I hear talkSPORT are sending The Moose to report on it and he can get photos with all his good friends at the club.
![]() Yea I understand the rivalry and friction between the Rangers and the 'Alley is pretty intense around your way not far off Celtic and Rangers in Scotland level minus about 120,000 fans of course. What's the game-plan for this afternoon then, hoof the ball into orbit and flatten any bugger to the ground in the Alley team daft enough to try stopping you winning?. Moose is on his way up there as we speak in the talkSPORT commentary van, he likes a quick snack before a game so hope you've ordered in enough food to feed about a dozen horses. [but not Mick Quinn's horses as they don't eat very much] Match prediction 14-0 to the Bowling Alley I'm afraid.

If we are 100% honest, since the PL began there has only been one year when you can say an English club was definitively the best in Europe.

Not true I'm afraid.Marginally the better team at OT, but United were denied a goal that was clearly onside before Giggs equalised. Second leg, 2 down in 10 minutes, the second a fluky deflection. After that United pulverised them, hitting the post as well as scoring 3, against a team who'd been in the three previous finals.

Sometimes the scoreline doesn't always reflect the game but at 2-0 down they had nothing to lose..

Well, my recollection is that they nearly lost the first-leg at home, only equalising in injury time, and, as you say, they were 2-0 down in 10 minutes in the away leg.
