As much as I dislike Jane, I'm not sure she ever met the criteria outside of the Lucy storyline. That's the problem with that storyline, they chose a character to commit this heinous act who before it was simply a slightly boring everywoman. Her being able to carry the body was one thing, if she had genuinely convinced herself she was protecting Bobby. It was the emotionless lying about it for months afterwards, having sex in the same room it happened, allowing an innocent man to go to jail. I still fail to see how DTC and Alex Lamb could have convinced themselves that we'd be sympathetic towards her when we found out. She's just a complete mess of a character now.

Ronnie is not a sociopath - that betrays a lack of understanding of ASPD. She is a rape and psychological abuse survivor and that has caused her to 'hide' from others and not to trust easily; it's really only Jack who understands her. She doesn't just break the law for the hell of it i.e. out of boredom or whatever as ASPD types do. She has all sorts of control issues and probably 'Complex PTSD' but she doesn't have ASPD.

Interesting thread elly. I would say Ian, Sharon, Kat and Ronnie have Post Traumatic Stress Disorder. Actually scrub that. Practically all the cast have it!

I would consider someone like Stacey to be a narcissist and quite a manipulative one at that as she is exceptionally good at playing the victim even when she is firmly in the wrong.

I really like her character though despite her many flaws.

There's a fine line between being flawed and having a personality disorder.

What's there about Ian and Sharon especially to suggest they'd have PTSD?

I would say Ian's arm scratching and Sharon's reliance on pills and an abusive relationship. You could also argue Ian has stayed in an abusive relationship with Jane or that could just be mummy issues.

Of course this could all just be a glib layperson's view of tired old fictional characters who have been contorted through one too many unbelievable plots and trying to analyse them may be like trying to nail jelly to the wall when they are all puppets at various producers/writers' whims.

Lee as well, at one point, although perhaps it was more depression all along. And I think Linda still had some remnants of it from her attack.

Fair points. Also Grant and that was specifically alluded to in the show. And practically everyone has had a horrible upbringing. I don't think EE quite has the finesse to address these things on a consistent basis. Sometimes they get it right - Kat in her initial stint.
