I thought she may have another commitment, its a shame but not a surprise.
Cue the "unable to fly" excuse of the month. |

Can't say I ever thought she would be!!
If she didn't return for Hayley's there was no way she would return for Kylie's!! |

I understand Katherine Kelly has other commitments but surely they could have persuaded her to film one scene even if it was just her watching the funeral from a distance or having a phone call with David with her in tears as they could have got someone to film it in Cardiff and send it to corrie for editing

Well that's a shame. Would have loved to have seen her return...however brief it was.

A real shame but inevitable. Katherine Kelly has been extremely busy over the past year with The Night Manager, Mr Selfridge, Happy Valley, Class and an upcoming supernatural drama for ITV.

Not really surprising. We would have known weeks in advance if she was returning.

Never understand why they just don't film the actual funeral in a way that people could be there....Do we need to see any more than maybe the coffin in the church and someone stood doing a eulogy, Don't show the church crowd....Then back at the wake have people mention who was there even if we didn't see them on camera and say they couldn't make the wake part
Or don't show the funeral, Show the hearse leaving the street and skip to the after |

I know this is all down to an actor's unavailability so it's contrived in that sense, but I wonder how common it actually is in real life for people to not attend the funerals of close relatives, whether through illness, inability to travel from overseas at short notice or simply not being able to face it? You never know, it might actually be more common than we presume... (Granted that it seems to happen with pretty much every Corrie funeral!
)I do think cris182's suggestion above to not completely show the funeral, thereby getting round having to have a roll call of attendees, is a good one, though. |

Its a shame she isn't available but to be honest i doubt she'd have returned even if she was free.
