Hi, on a sim only pay monthly contract with three but my moto g2 is now getting too slow to use properly so I've decided to buy a oneplus 3. I've read on here and elsewhere that you can just walk into a three store and ask them to swap the sim for you (it would be micro to nano). My question is what would I need to bring? Do I need to bring my moto g2 sim or can they just do it in the store without it and I can just pop the new sim into my oneplus 3 when I get home and my old sim would just die? Thanks for any help.

They only asked for ID when I did a sim swap. I didn't have the old sim with me.

They will tell you that the swap from one SIM to the next can take up to 24 hours. However when they did it for me it happened instantly, so might be worth having both phones handy so that you aren't left being unreachable.

I believe that they now charge £5.11 for the new SIM. My parents did this last Friday. Seems overly expensive to me.

I swapped my SIM last year when I was with Three SIM Only and moved from a windows phone to iPhone.

They asked for ID (showed them my passport) and the old SIM. It seems that if you tell them you are upgrading to a new phone and you have everything with you (old SIM, old phone, new phone) they're willing to waive the fee. Don't mention it to them, they will. If they try to charge you try persuading them with the above argument (upgrading phones).

The official policy is to charge £5.11 as mentioned. But sometimes they waive the fee.

Both times I had to get a new SIM with Three it was free. The first I was upgrading and they said that's policy to wave I think upgrading. The second I'd lost the SIM and I think the guy in the shop was just feeling nice.
