Despite being underused since the moment he arrived, I feel like Paul has started to come into his own as a character - mainly due to his relationship with Ben. He's helped "soften" Ben and watching the two of them on Friday was bittersweet. They're finally in a happy, content place yet we know what is going to happen this week...

So are you disappointed Paul is leaving after the progress him and Ben have finally made or do you just NGAF.

Yeah he's just started to grow on me. I quite like him now. Shame he's leaving. Just hope Ben won't get with creepy new Johnny soon. Really don't like him!

If it ends how I presume it does then that will be horrible and tragic but he's not someone I've particularly been interested in up til his presumed death!

Having said that if he does die in a homophobic attack I will applaud EE for doing something brave and his death will elevate his character from the cipher it has been.

Like many others, I didn't care for him at first, but now I really like him, & will be sad to see him gone.

His hairband had more personality then he did. Awful character.

So much potential and none of it used! I'll be sad to see him go

Not really. I'm a bit sad for Jonny Labey who tried his best in the role, but apart from the last few weeks of decent character development which was put in purely to make his death more impactful, he has been pretty much a plot device of a character.

I read No as not in the slightest little bit and so voted accordingly.

Whilst I hate the hair, eyebrows, alice band and expressions,I do feel the actor got a very raw deal with the "character" (I use that word very loosely) and think the creative team and writers should be ashamed of what they have put on screen for Paul. I mean the least they could of done was given him a personality to counteract the hair

A really good summation I think, the writers never gave the character a chance, or the screen time to develop but I believe your remarks in the second paragraph could very well be realised

Judging by the fact that they can barely go a single scene without snogging or talking about sex, I would say the "opposite" is happening to Ben.

Extremely sad. The character was underdeveloped for a long time, but he and Ben made a cute couple, and Paul doesn't deserve such an awful ending.

I agree. Him and Ben disappearing off into the sunset together would have been better.

I can't say I will miss him, however, Paul and Ben started to feel more like a couple.

No of course not. He was defined by being hairy and having a creepy and perverse interest in old people.

There was a lot of potential and talent there, but the writing wasted it. I just hope that this isn't some plan to get Ben together with Sausage (sorry Jonny)! Although it would be good for the Mitchell clan to have someone with a law degree in the family, they could get some sort of faaaamily discount.

Completely agree it's a shame they had to end the relationship
For all he was underused I still would rather watch his story lines than Lee or Johnny Carters

Yes, the character had a lot of potential and I enjoyed Paul's relationships with Ben, Pam and Les. He was starting to come into his own as a character but it's a pity he's gone for good now.

RIP Paul.

I remember after Paul's first episode, most people liked him and found him interesting. His character wasn't developed enough - his diabetes was hinted at the start but wasn't even brought back.

No. I have nothing against the actor but the character was a monumental bore.

I agree with a poster above that I'd rather he and Ben lived happily ever after away from the square, rather than being killed off.

No. He was only a reason to give Ben more screen-time so I'm glad he's gone. I didn't buy them as a couple anyway.

Too bland and irrelevant. Not written well and not a particularly good actor either.

I actually will miss him as I was warming to his relationship with Ben and enjoyed his relationship with his grandparents. More importantly, I'm sick of anyone who comes into contact with a Mitchell become collateral damage. Paul's death just felt needless.

It is a rule according to TPTB - think of Steve Owen and Johnny Allen (and any other villain you care to name) for example - preposterously weakened the moment they came into contact with the Poison Potato.
