Wholeheartedly agree. I really enjoyed tonight's episodes and I firmly believe that Oates had a hand with the staging of the chase between David and Clayton, the non-diegetic sound of Kylie's final words and several characters mentioning loved ones that they had lost: Maria- Liam, Sophie- Maddie, Caz- her cousin, Nick- Brian etc.

If you'd even bothered to watch Maria said to Caz "it wasn't like we were best mates or anything, but I worked with her nearly every day!!"
Plenty of people I've been far less acquainted with than those two who I would have been in shock about had they just been murdered on the Street where I lived.... and I didn't lose my husband in very similar circumstances just 7 years earlier!!

You haven't 'missed' anything but you have to think beyond the scenes we are given. Kylie and Maria work together. Have done for years. Apart from her family, Maria has, logically, spent more time with Kylie than anyone else on the street. As Maria said, she'd only just seen Kylie laughing and joking a few hours back. Then she see's her literally bleed to death on the cobbles - no wonder she was so upset
