CS: The Peacock Family
I was just thinking back to the tram crash on Corrie, which led to the Peacocks leaving Corrie after Ashley died. I think I would like to see Claire Peacock return with her two boys Joshua and Freddy. It would be interesting to see how they have developed without Ashley. Plus Josua would be 14 now and could probably handle storylines of his own.
I always thought axing the Peacocks was a bad move, especially the way they actually left in the end, with Ashley dying in the tram crash and Clair going on the run after assaulting Tracy Barlow. Hopefully Kate Oates brings them back, even if only for a few episodes. It would be hard, without Claire's friend Becky around but I think Eileen is Freddys godmother and then of course Tracy is still there, so it's not entirely impossible. |

Would love to see them back but their departure was pretty final.

Without Ashley the Peacocks aren't much of an interesting family worth having around. Claire was always pretty annoying and only tolerable because of Ashley. Its too bad they killed him off rather than her, he was a great character and could have gone on to do more.

I know there were issues with Steven Arnold that may have paved the way for Ashley's demise, but I think loosing Claire was a pity. Those kids, like Amy and the Platt children had a heritage that could only ever be a positive.

Ashley was fine but desperately needed someone new to spar with to replace Fred, and Claire's personality changed with the wind. In many ways they were in a similar position to the Websters in the mid-90s. However, the Websters have since proved that they were worth saving and perhaps the Peacocks could have too. I doubt Ashley would have ever got a better exit though! |

I'd go further and say it was Fred who made them interesting. Without him around they faded into the background, and when we did see them their storylines were really perfunctory stuff you'd seen a million times. It was obvious the writers had lost interest long before the axe fell.

I thought that the actress that played Claire was atrocious.

Didn't their house burn down at one point? Also around this time Corrie seemed to be giving them storylines but they never really worked, as Ashley had a stalker or somebody who was going to kidnap one of the kids but that didn't air. Claire was really irritating but Ashley was a good character. I liked his friendship with Graeme when they worked in the butchers.

Joshua and Freddie should return when adult men and become the new bad boys/hard men of the street. They should subject Tracy Barlow to harassment and misery over what she did to their mother. Corrie should keep their real identities under wraps so it leaves a mystery to who is stalking Tracy, only to find out the two Peacock children all grown up and looking for revenge.

I'd love them to return. Claire was brilliant in the tram crash aftermath

I like that idea but how about they do that now with a long lost son of Charlie Stubbs?
Unfortunately with this revenge idea Tracy would just come out on top, so there wouldn't be much purpose to it. The Peacock lads and Charlie's child would no doubt be living next door to her with no problem and buying from whatever business she'll be running in the next 10-15 years. |

Didn't Shelly give birth to Charlie's child after she left, although the name wasn't given on-screen?

I've also had the idea where it turns out Chalrie is the long lost twin brother of James Barton on Emmerdale. James goes to Weatherfield one day to try and be the Bistro's new beef supplier. Everyone recognizes James and Charlie and he is told what Tracy did to his twin. James embarks on a long revenge plot to kill Tracy for murdering his brother. |
