As when DTC started the previous EPs work can be amended or scrapped.

All the hype was for Ben to die, to draw in the viewers, and then this load of tosh. EE used to be great and now it has gone severely downhill. Corrie is better as was Kylies death. This "twist" was painfullly obvious, and there was a time EE would have pushed the boat and just killed Ben, but now it will use stories to get in viewers but never actually deliver.

Far too much filler, Carters are awful and need to be axed. Whitney Lee and Jonny in particular are woeful.

It was shite, Friday should have shown a fight scene and their night out. maybe with both ending up in the fight. It was just totally random with no punch tonight.

I didn't mind the basic concept of it.

Instead of seeing the accident/attack, we see it from the relatives point of view - getting the call out of the blue, waiting at the Hospital, being told their loved one is dead and mistakes re identity do get made if there is no wallet (which i assume there wasn't) or no photo ID. If they rang the contact down as 'Mum', it is logical to assume that it is the person who the person that answers the ohone says it is from their caller ID. Especially if that name agrees with a tattoo.

But.....the whole thing was a waste of time as the twist was so obvious. I think it would have been even if we didn't know that the actor playing Poaul was leaving.

The whole thing was building to a shock twist that we all saw coming so it was a misfire.

It just didn't have any impact, we all knew it wasn't actually Ben, combined with poor scripts and poor acting, awful episode.

Uhmmm, it was a bit odd wasn't it.

To wander off screen and then we see one of them dead, it's not my favorite way of soaps dealing with stories. I want to see it on screen.

It wouldn't bother me if it is a hate crime, because they were quite loved up on Friday, it would be a typical Enders way of doing things. But homophobia is not "another box to tick" it's still a really big issue and does still happen.

Now of course, it may not be homophobic, we don't know what has happened.

But yeah, the episode felt like we'd jumped to the end of a storyline that had never happened on screen. I get the show is in some sort of transition (possibly) but it did feel a bit all over the place tonight.

All that fuss bringing back Kathy background character all they can muster for her is a pointless affair storyline.

I watched with someone who doesn't watch EE ordinarily, and we both liked it.

Different strokes for different folks, I guess!

edited to add: my auntie genuinely thought that Ben had died. And she reads Digital Spy, so she's "absolutely right". Also, for all the time she spends on Digital Spy, she didn't know that

Spoiler
Steve was Leanne's baby daddy in Corrie.

That we didn't see the fight, that the last we saw was them leaving for a night out and then one of them is dead is actually the only thing in the story i do like.

Because that happens in life sometime. Death is unexpected, it is just another day, one minute somebody is there, the next they're not - you just get a phone call telling you.

I think anybody that has had a close relative or friend die suddenly (car crash, heart attack) will be able to relate to that.

I'd love to see Cora return and save Paul and Ben like Super Gran!
