Coronation street street
since when has there been an alley between the Kabin and the garage. or the garage and factory and those steps?
and where did the brewery come from? you could see it when david ran behind the garage and along near the tram wall thingy and then it was right there just now when steph was talking to Robert at Leannes front door. so if there is another factory right behind the factory then why is no one on the street employed there? and why doesn't the rovers use its beer

The alley between the garage and the Kabin has been there since 1989.
'Nutall's Brewery' was dreamed up in 2000 when the Victoria Street part of the set was introduced. In reality, the 'brewery' was really the Museum of Science and Industry that backed onto the old set in Central Manchester. A facade was recreated for the new set at Salford Quays. Don't know what you mean about 'another factory'. Do you mean the brewery? |

yes a brewery is essentially a factory and source of employment.

There isn't an upstairs to the garage, the steps lead up to the roof of the factory. The factory 'roof' was added around 2005/2006 and has been used infrequently in stories, such as when Becky got drunk at her first wedding to Steve, during the hilarious storyline when Eileen got her head stuck in the railings and again in tonight's episode. |

I assure you that the alley has been there since that part of the set was built in 1989. This picture is of the Quay Street set.

I just said I saw it from a different angle. most angles it doesn't look like there is one and the websters board covers it. deffo not as wide as that one tonight. plus the garage extension is meant to be behind the garage but it wasn't |

there is a second storey above the garage and where those steps led. are you saying the factory has space over the top of the garage. the are seperat steps to the roof of the factory where eileen was trapped

The factory was mysteriously extended sometime late 2006 (can't remember the exact date) and a whole upper level suddenly appeared overnight. This first featured in a story when the Connors took on Polish workers, one of whom died by falling down the stairs. That was 2007. Anyway, we can assume that the factory has upstairs space over the garage but this has not been confirmed on screen. Similarly, it has never been confirmed on screen that the garage has an upstairs but it's very unlikely. |

The garage extension is in one of the viaduct arches, not directly behind the garage and not connected to the main garage building.

We shouldn't assume anything and as I seem to be talking in a foreign language I am not going to bother even trying anymore. |

Just to add, though I'm not sure it makes any difference to this discussion, we didn't see any of the viaduct tonight during the David/Clayton fight scenes.
I've just rematched the scenes and Clayton runs out of the garage, up this alley and up the stairs. The steps lead up to a gantry, with another set of steps at the other end. I have annotated the following pic of the set. David follows and catches him on the gantry circled in green. Clayton escapes, runs down the steps as runs away in the direction of the red arrow. Nowhere in this sequence were there any shots of the viaduct. |

Also, here is a picture of the new garage being installed in one of the arches. The bistro is to the left with the van parked outside.

Brewery gates/railings under construction in the yellow square. David was facing in the direction of the red arrow. Screen shot of David in front of the brewery frontage. |

I'm sorry that you feel I'm 'speaking a foreign language'.

Screen shot of David in front of the brewery frontage. Yet again! I have said that I must be speaking in a foreign language because you don't appear to be able to understand one word that I have written appart from the alley to start with then just ignored the fact I had said I had seen it twice. The length of the viaduct wall was shown as they panned towards the railings of the brewery. like I said in my original post shall I just keep repeating myself? no think I will go and just bash my head against a brick wall I haven't looked at anything you are linking to because I don't follow unknown links. nor is half of it even relevant. thanks for ruining my thread. I will never post about corrie again |

I will say again, it is not the viaduct, it's the frontage of the brewery.

I haven't looked at anything you are linking to because I don't follow unknown links. nor is half of it even relevant. thanks for ruining my thread. I will never post about corrie again If you clicked on the links they would probably help you understand the set a little better but if you'd rather not then there's not much else I can do to try and argue my point. I know the Coronation Street set very well and have built up a very good knowledge of it over the years, as have one or two other posters on here such as Pyramidbread. If you're not willing to follow the links or listen to my posts then, like I say, there's no much else I can do or say. I'm rather upset that you think I have 'ruined' your thread. You asked questions about the set which I attempted to reply to and explain. From where I'm sitting the only negative about this thread is your animosity to my replies. All I'm trying to do is help. |

Lol, don't waste your breath trying to be helpful, KK. Some people 'know what they think' and they're not going to let facts get in the way.
![]() I've used a lot of energy tonight OnJ, it's not often that I go to these lengths to try and explain what is a very minor detail of the exterior set but hey ho!

I remember seeing a drawing that I think was by Denis Parkin from 1960s predicting how the street would look in 2000
