That's an absolute shocker from DS. I was just about to watch on iPlayer.

Unbelievable.

It's not a spoiler once it has aired!

yeah a bit of a weird thread

Once the ep has aired and i have not seen the it, i normally avoid this place, had it wrecked for me in the past.

Surely it could have said "Eastenders death twist" or something and not "Eastenders kills off Paul Coker in tragic death twist" with a pic of his corpse?!?

Give people at least a chance to watch it on catch up.

They could have done, but this is the same site which had me banned for saying Michael in CS is using his Ice cream van to pick up women.
They don't care what they do anymore to us.
Also why was you using the main site it's terrible?

Considering the rapid build up and speculation, you're playing with fire if you check DS before you've watched the ep. Schoolboy error.

But how long should they wait? Programmes stay on I Player for 30 days now -should they wait until then to ensure that everybody that is going to watch it that way has? There could be people on holiday who have 2 weeks worth to watch on catch up when they return.

I think treating th terrestrial transmission as the point when something stops being a spoiler is fair enough really. People can just not come into DS until they've caught up if they're that worried about it.

Or create a shortcut to bypass the News page (as i have done to avoid spoilers) although again, once it has been transmitted, it is within the rules to reference a death in titles.

I am all for keeping it spoiler free but once aired on tv, people are talking about it. If I am watching at Canadian speed, I simply stay off any sites with major spoilers like DS

It's aired on TV. If you're spoiled by something that has already aired, it's your own fault for coming online before watching, I guess.

I have learned from experience, that if I don't want any spoilers on a show, avoid the internet till I have seen the show. I'm sorry for you, that you stumbled on it.

So how long should they give? A couple of hours? An evening? A day? 2 days? What about people on holiday, perhaps 7 days? Or maybe 10 days?

Once something has aired, the information is in the public domain, free to be reported and free to be commented upon. It is then the responsibility of the viewer to watch as quickly as possible and to stay away from all possible sources of information & discussion.

Once the episode has been aired it's no longer a spoiler, if anyone watch's on catch-up and goes onto a soaps site or even this forum they can hardly complain if it the episode that has already been aired that they haven't watched on catch-up is being discussed.

Most people worked it out weeks ago that it was Paul so it's not really a spoiler.Plus if you missed EE,why look at a spoiler page before catching up?

Just as much as the BBC website will almost instantly publish football, tennis, rugby, F1 results. I watched EE on iPlayer at 11pm so just avoided DS and social media as I knew it would be all over there, either way you know now for future reference to avoid disappointment. I'd like to say it'll be a while before they kill the next character off but it's EE so maybe next week!

I havent watched the last couple of weeks but I always assumed the Cokers would bury their grandson given their occupation. It would be a total missed opportunity if they didn't.

Once the whole Ben's dead stuff started to leak it was confirmed for me that they'd flip it.

Worst spoiler ever. We knew Paul was leaving. Then they teased Ben's "reported death". Then they built up to a sad ending by showing lots of domestic bliss for Paul and Ben. They needed a twist and there it was. Paul was always a disposable character as they haven't developed him properly. Ben has so much more to come.

Hey, at least the iPlayer thumbnail didn't show Paul's corpse [they can be so spoilerific sometimes to someone who can't always watch live]...

These "Thanks for the massive spoiler!" threads always seem bizarre to me. Any huge cliffhanger is intended to get people talking about the show and build up the audience for the next episode.

It's staggering that someone could be so selfish as to want that entire conversation put on hold or hidden behind disclaimers. Just until they get around to watching the episode in their own time.
