So say the Sun: another explosion in the works, more lives on the line. Tony Prescott is set to return to direct the 'big' stunt:

Kate Oates era has well and truly begun.

If it's just a one off to get rid of loads of deadwood in one go, then just be happy. They have too many bores roaming the street.

As usual there'll be an 'unknown' plus someone who's leaving anyway, I suppose Tracy's too much to hope for and it's too long to wait for mashed Phelan. Todd? I doubt Les Dennis is long term either.

Indeed it has - the equivalent of painting by numbers, reusing all her Emmerdale stunts again.Mr Prescott looks like a pre-war dance band leader rather than action man in that photo.

Corrie doesn't need this.

Other than the lesbians and hopeless Chesney in his one scene, last night's eps were great with an impressive use of the characters. It was refreshing to see a proper aftermath / a dramatic occurrence on the street have a lasting impact which hasn't happened for a while.

Even characters like Maria, who have been wandering around aimlessly for years, suddenly had a purpose. I loved her scene with Sally. And I normally hate that Nazir woman but I thought she was great with Audrey.

The show just needs to continue in this vein. Well written drama but character-based. We don't need the sort of short-termist, sensational, cheap thrills and shocks type storytelling Oates inflicted on us at Emmerdale.

A one-off stunt should only happen if they're going to kill off those who are beyond salvageable eg. Sean, Michelle, Fiz, Chesney, Kirk, Tracy and Dev. But there's zilch chance of any of those going.

When I glanced over the story I was certain it would heavily involve Sean in this huge explosion and I was excited he would be killed off.

Then I read the story again and noticed it said massive STUNT.

The trouble with stunts like this, with characters crawling through flames to escape is, you have to care about the characters involved to feel any kind of fear or worry for them.

There are so many characters in the factory that I just don't care about, Kate, Johnny, Aidan, Fiz, Sinead etc that watching them fighting for their lives would leave me cold. Does that make me a bad person?

I hope it's not Jenny Bradley that suffers in this. I wouldn't be surprised.

Might be during the ITV big soap week

Meanwhile Emmerdale will be doing something different then... interesting

I think the past few stunts on Corrie have been a let down, Kate's great with big drama like this

When Sinead was in the bus crash I honestly didn't care if she died

Blimey! Still the most dangerous street in Britain. Can't they let the dust settle on Kylie before planning more. We've had enough since the tram crash. Let's have some proper storylines again-it's not Hollywood! 😕

How many ex-plo-si-ons can one back street have - if it's the factory then this is the 3rd major fire in less than a decade....not to mention the dead body under the floor, the siege and accidentally dying Polish workers

Stunts are overdone at the moment especially by Kate Oates on Emmerdale. So no surprise she's doing it at Corrie.

Oh dear. I hope this isn't a sign of things to come.

If there's deadwood, pack them off on the next bus.

I agree! In the last few years we've have The Tram Crash, The Rovers Fire, The Flats Fire, The Bus Crash. They need to try building new exciting storylines rather than one off events to grab viewers.

I don't hold out much hope for Izzy if it's in the factory and she's out of prison. She's the last of the Armstrongs.

Precisely. They had 2 in the space of six months in 2010. I've seen it all before and this sort of thing doesn't interest me.

They won't use it as an opportunity to kill off the irredeemable deadwood, if they were going to that's the only thing that would make me care. I'd love to see Sean or Michelle or even better both crushed under a tonne of rubble.

I think they'll do this in the first week of December as It's the show's birthday week.

When a new producer comes in they usually like to make changes to one of the most used sets which is the Rovers in Corrie's case.

But another fire wouldn't work as it's too soon after the last one.

But wouldn't it be amazing to watch Sean crushed by a load of sewing machines and hoping that's it for his overly camp, badly acted character?

Jenny needs to stay. She's turned out really well and is someone for Rita to bounce off that isn't Norrks.

I want Sean to die in a freak accident during the brewey delivery - crushed by a load of kegs

No point to this unless it's to get rid of the half a dozen long time cast members.
