I really dislike when soaps over-do the stunts (I.e Hollyoaks) but I think Corrie was in such a state before Kate Oates took over, that something major had to happen to bring the viewers back. And let's face it, if done right, it will give the show a much needed clear out. There is way too many dull, annoying and just plain stupid characters in Corrie at the moment and also give a chance to redeem others. An example of which was Gail, Gemma, and Bethany who have all improved since Kylie died.
Hopefully we see some deadwood killed off in this stunt. Hoping for, Steph, Luke, Michael, Robert, Fiz/Tyrone, Caz, Johnny, Kate to be either killed off or redeemed in the coming months. Although Robert, Steph and Luke grate on me the most and I don't think they can be redeemed

Stunts bring in viewers, and it seems this will be used to clear out the deadwood (ie Michael), so I don't mind so much.

Be nice if the Stunt happened on the Posh Side of Street, as most of the stunts lately, have happened on the not posh side.

Maybe have a fire at the Salon, or even better, figure out a way to get rid of the Medical Centre it has been mentioned on here a few times us saying what a waste it is now.

And murders.....we've had a rake of them in recent times : Sunita, Tina, Frank, Kylie, Callum etc plus Cal and Maddie dying as a result of the fire.

Statistically, you would only expect one murder at most on a tiny street like that in a 50 year period and even that would be a highly unusual event.

I'd wait for the official press release rather than believing everything you read in that trash of a newspaper. Don't believe any "biggest stunt ever" claims unless it comes directly from Corrie press. The forum tends to build things up to more than what they are nowadays leading to disappointment when it airs.

Absolutely! Complete waste of money, which would be better spent on better actors and writers.

I hope this stunt is better than the helicopter crash Kate did on Emmerdale. Just out of curiosity what hasn't been blown up or caught fire on Corrie? I know the Rovers burned down twice, the factory has been burned down, Dev's shop, the Kabin and the Bistro before it was the bistro.

If the characters you mentioned were indeed killed off this forum would just accuse it of being disappointing and a damp squib for not killing off 'major' characters.

Surely they should concentrate on good writing and gripping emotional drama than just using it as a platform to get rid of so-called 'deadwood'. If that was the agenda than it is just a waste of time.

Plus the major flaw in this idea is that they would just be replaced with worse characters, so you are best just keeping them.

There have been far too many stunts lately.

Focus on writing and performance and the show will improve massively.

Roy's Rolls has never burned down I don't think. Plus Audrey's Hair Salon and The Kebab Shop.

Audrey's has never burnt down or had anything done to it.

Here's an idea.

There is a eletrical fault at the Chip Shop, and the fire spreads through to the Medical Centre, where there is some class going on, or maybe a big community event, which is to big for the Community Centre to handle, so they use the Medical Centre one evening.

They could then as an event, bring a whole new lease of life, to that end of the Street

Fire at Roy Rolls full of customers, and then move Roy's Rolls into the Chip Shop.

Alex could be on a shift on his own, his mates come in, Alex has his mind taken off what he is doing then boom

The show needs to axe its deadwood.

Most properties have been damaged by fire or some other disaster, some worse than others.

Rovers - two fires
No.1 - chip pan fire
No5 - damage when Les and Cilla's bath fell through the ceiling
No7 - partial collapse due to faulty beam subsequently demolished
No9 - flooded when water came back on and taps had been left on
No11 - fire when Elsie Tanner fell asleep whilst smoking
No13 - fire caused by the tram crash
Corner Shop and flat - explosion caused by "Mad" Maya. Badly damaged in tram crash
Joinery/Bistro - explosion which led to tram crash
Victoria Court - flats badly damaged by fire
Roys Rolls - fire blamed (incorrectly) on Becky
Builders Yard - fare damage during Victoria Court blaze
Kabin and flat - badly damaged during tram crash
Factory - two fires
No. 8 - car crashed into Annex
No. 4 - fire started by childminder obsessed with Ashley
"The Flats" - fire in which killed Val, flats later demolished
5 Grassmere Drive - fire started by Richard Hilman but made to make it look like she caused it

They should burn down Roy's place, it is in desperate need of a make over.

Nah, DS said it'd be a favourite getting killed off, not a nauseating bore.

It is just something articles say to get people hyped. That along with:
"Never been done before"
"Will leave a massive impact on the characters"
"Biggest stunt in the show's history"
"Will play a role in years to come"

We will probably work out who will die just by looking at who is departing around that time.

I remember before the tram crash it was talked about how it would impact the street for years to come, but the tram crash was only mentioned a few times for the next year and then forgotten. But of course it isn't surprising as characters were no doubt distracted by the many other fires, explosions and deaths that followed.

I doubt there will be any "major" deaths. Probably just Michael (Les Dennis)

Normally with these kind of stunts they don't seem to have the bottle to go the whole hog and stop at around 3 known character deaths.

I think it would be a bold move to use the opportunity to kill off 7/8 characters, they could probably do 15 but even I think that's excessive
