Ok, i've got a small problem that I hope you guys/girls can help clear up.

I bought my dad a new phone for his birthday - a SIM Free Sony M4 Aqua. He currently has a Vodafone PAYG sim deal which he likes as he has some sort of 'friends and family' deal on it so I made sure the phone was unlocked.

Naturally the phone needed a different sim size (nano) to the one he's got, so I told him to go to the Vodafone shop in town to request one. However when he was there the sales person told him that he 'needed to get the phone unlocked' first. I ensured him that this wasn't the case and got him to ring Vodafone to request the new SIM card.

He rang me back to say that he was told that "Vodafone do not offer nano-sim cards on PAYG". I'm pretty sure this is nonsense but thought i'd check here if anyone knows about it.

By the way - this is all third party info I got from my dad. it's possible that he didn't explain to them what he needed properly or didn't understand what they told him . . .

Thanks

Someone at VF needs some re-education.

It's not as if there's a massive picture of a nano SIM at https://freesim.vodafone.co.uk/, and a mention of a 3 in 1 SIM, just pop out the size you need.

He could try ringing customer services, but I'm not sure they'll be any better. Could he try a different store if there's one nearby?

Thanks - i assumed this was complete rubbish.

I've just on the site and ordered him a new sim. It's really frustrating though as he lives quite far away from me and it's hard for me to manage all this for him - from the sounds of it Vodafone were just trying to get him to take out a contract.

I got a standard sim changed to the new multi size sim on Vodafone pay as you go, in store a couple of weeks ago without any hassle (except it didn't work the first time and had to get another sim card)
