CS: Will we ever get DVDS of the 20th century episodes?
Why won't they realise them?

There's 3 box sets available : the 60s 70s and 80s already?

There are selections of episodes from 2000-2009 available in a boxset (similar to the ones from the 1960s, 1970s, 1980s or 1990s). The only disappointment is a lot is left out so you are left hanging on some plots.
Corrie have yet to release anything for the 2010s. |

To clarify I meant something more akin to a complete 1960-2000 box set with every episode.

More realistic is if they allowed these to be streamed from a subscription service. |

Realistically that's just not going to happen. How many discs do you think it would take?

Well if went right up to now 9000/9 = roughly 1000 discs - release them year by year and you're talking a few dozen discs at most.
More likely is if they put them on youtube. I presume they have digitised them all for archive, however again to upload all would be time consuming and thus expensive. I think it's unlikely that the public will ever have access to all episodes. |

That won't happen - The cost of producing and marketing that would be prohibitive for what would be a small audience.

Any easy compromise would be to rebroadcast them. |

Box sets are ok but there's only so many times you want to watch the same few epsodes!!
I honestly don't understand why they are all getting scrubbed from YouTube ![]() I could understand if they were acailable to watch on a subscription channel somewhere & the You Tube ones wrte losing them revenue because of it but as they aren't I t just seems very mean spirited to deny the public access to them altogether!! I have been a regular viewer of the 2008 episodes since I went online but, on deciding the other night to get my 'fix' I went into yhere to discover the whole damn lot haf bern 'wiped'!! Gutted didn't even begin to cover it!!!

I don't really see what harm it did, especially as most of these episodes had been online for many years (some even dating back to 2010!) Coronation Street actually upload clips and updates on what appears to be their official channel. I do wish they would upload full episodes instead, especially dating back decades. |

I've tried contacting the owners if these channels to ask if they have any more episodes, but they never reply. Maybe they lurk on this forum...? |

The only reason I can think of is they're concerned about actors suing them for royalties if it's available on YouTube. That's a fair concern but in that case they should get there phone book out and start contacting the actors.

Would actors even get royalties seeing as it is highly unlikely for soap episodes to be repeated again after transmission?

Probably what it is is that ITV have just decided to clamp down and close these uploaders down now just in case they decide to start a repeat run on one of their channels in the future. If that's the case, maybe we should be heartened.. Still really annoying though.

Time consuming but extremely lucrative if marketed properly.
What is more likely is an archive of highlights - unlikely to be full episodes though |

I disagree... I think there is a very limited audience for episodes from March 1967 or any other time in the past. Big event episodes may be a draw, but the audience for every single episode is very small. The cost of employing people to upload and manage these files and the cost of marketing them would be prohibitive, I don't possibly see how it would be "extremely lucrative".

It's years since they tried I think the market would be much wider now. I know when they April fooled it it was reasonably popular.
Why would the market be wider now? What does reasonably popular mean? |

SO agree. I still mourn the demise of the "Auntie Corrie" channel, which was presumably taken down on the orders of ITV (or maybe some spoilsport do-gooder"?

Strangely (up to now) the 2005 episodes that were recorded from omninbus editions & split into sections have been left untouched?? Probably only a matter of time though!!

There may have been a lot of people who fell for the April fool, but that doesn't mean they'd actually buy a complete DVD set...

Release one set, see how it sells, then release more if it's successful. Simple.
Sequential episodes from the start, of course. The previous boxsets were nothing more than samplers for each year. |
