If you're with Vodafone then Brazil is in their World Traveller Zone. £5 a day to use your UK call/text & data allowances. I would think a local SIM is cheaper though...

I was there 18 months ago and just relied on wifi in cafes & hotels.

When I Google for Local Data Sims all I get are links to international prepaid cards which are still pretty expensive, typically about $100 per GB. I was hoping that someone here might have experience of buying a sim card in Brazil itself, and what paperwork is required.
