Who was that girl that appeared in front of Belle? Leave your theories here.

I'm presuming the stress of lying is bringing her old mental illness back and its manifesting itself in her imagining one of the girls she was in prison with

I was guessing that she was imagining that girl due to mental health problems but I could be wrong?

She was a figment of Belle's imagination.

She's a figment of Belles imagination.

Sat with my mother tonight she commented 'tut bloody Emmerdale is getting as bad as Hollyoaks lately' she has no idea the new EP is ex HO so his influence is clearly visible!

I think Belle is going loopy again and imagining her, she has probably stopped taking her medication.

I believe she had to stop taking her medication because she was 'pregnant'.

Bellend needs the sort of vigorous shaking a dog gives a rat to knock the sawdust out of her ears. Does she really and truly think a philandering, untrustworthy, lying, deceitful, spineless, lecherous, pervy old git like that is worth upsetting her entire family, trying to get herself knocked up when she's barely out of nappies herself, making herself ill over, ruining her life and risking being carted off to the nuthouse again as a certified basket case when someone realises she's talking to imaginary people? The silly bint hasn't the sense to realise she's just a plaything, that all he sees in her is an easy lay and will soon get bored of her highly strung clingy nature when some other airhead comes along with less miles on the clock and bigger knockers to catch his eye. Her head'll spin so quickly she'll drill herself into the floor. All that expensive schooling and she turns out a homewrecking slack drawered Dingle delinquent whose privately educated brain is in her arse.

That's the exceptionally intelligent Belle!

Just because she's s intelligent and well educated, it doesn't mean she won't t do stupid things. If she's s sick again, that might affect her ability to think and act rationally too. It's s got nothing to do with academic intelligence or education, IMO. There's plenty of intelligent people do daft things, especially under pressure. Belle has always been highly strung and given to doing wayward things and the incident with Gemma, causing her to feel immense guilt and fall ill seems to have exacerbated that. I think it was easy to cast her in the mould of sensible, smart, precocious kid when she was younger but she's old enough to strike out on her own and become independent now, and she's often panicking about things, losing control and making mistakes. After all, her ex GP boyfriend is presumably level - headed and intelligent, and he's s given up everything to shack up with a troubled, mentally ill girl twenty years younger than him!

The only thing he's given up is his plan to be a doctor in Roumania. Everything else was taken away from him against his will. If he had had a choice of everything he had or Belle, we wouldn't be having to tolerate this nonsense now.

It's his own fault for cheating on his wife. If he hadn't cheated on his wife he wouldn't be in this position now.

No need to guess, that's what the change in camera angle was for at the end, as it showed Belle having a conversation, but you couldn't hear the other side (which you could previously), thus showing it was her imagination.

Absolutely! I wasn't feeling sorry for him - I was just saying that he didn't sacrifice anything for Belle.

And you could see there was no one else there.

Surely he realised that losing his wife and career was a risk he took when he entered into an affair with a mentally ill patient? That doesn't t speak of good judgement on the part of the educated, apparently intelligent doctor.
