CS: The Kylie "flashback voiceover" in last night's first ep...

It's probably covered in the episode thread, but this struck me as a bit cheesy, more like something one of the Aussie soaps would do. Maybe it wouldn't have been quite so bad once, but they did it three times... What do others think?

I didn't think it was cheesy, i thought it was good BUT I agree with you about the overplaying it. Was ok the first and second time but after that it got annoying.

I liked it.
David obviously had Kylie's last words on his mind, as you would.

They're milking it. She's gone - bury her.

Loved it!

Actually hearing her voice kinda felt like she was still in the show in a way and that made me happy!

Tho just as I expected the show has dropped without her. Its just not the same no more I really hope David kills Clayton, hate him!

I totally agree on the Aussie soaps comparison - still, in this instance it works for me...I'm sorry! It does surprise me a bit when it happens, because it's not really a fit with Corrie, and I know if it was related to characters I wasn't keen on I'd be more likely to cringe - but it's communicating something David's not going to share, so I'll accept it for now

There was that one time David made the crisp packet move without touching it.

It was a very Aussie soap technique but I think it worked quite well. It meant David didn't need any dialogue and could just show how he was feeling with expressions. Sometimes these different techniques that break from the norm work well in a UK soap during emotional storylines. Val Pollard reappearing in Eric imagination in Emmerdale was a great example, I loved those scenes. EastEnders did it again with Pat and Peggy and that also worked nicely. It was strange to see it in a UK soap that don't normally break with reality like that- but I think it makes the scenes a little bit more special to do something different and a bit jarring now and again.
