I admit that I really didn't want him back, I couldn't stand him before, but he's been a pleasant surprise. Great screen presence and a natural actor.

I didn't like him last stint and wasn't looking forward to his return, but I'm bloody loving him at the moment. It's like he's become Peter with a personality.
I am especially impressed by the speed in which he has obtained the phone number of everyone in Walford, even those he's yet to share any screentime with. |

I always liked Edward Savage in the role (so much so Steven was my favourite "Beale" kid) but I never liked psycho Steven last time but I have to say this stint has been really great I liked him by the end of his first episode back and I really do hope he is here for at least a year or more.

He's a great character. Has a lot of screen presence - think he's channelling his uncle David! Long may be stay on the square!

I'm really liking Steven this time, such a good character and has fitted in so well amongst the Beale drama. He really does remind me of David Wicks so much.

Would it be wrong to pair Ben and Steven? I know they're related but they didn't grow up together or anything did they?

I think Steven is going to stray with Johnny.
My theory is, if Ben and Johnny get together, Ben is still reeling from the loss of Paul and still doesn't feel comfortable and 100% about himself, therefore blowing hot and cold on Johnny and the relationship being on/off. Johnny and Steven form after Johnny gets fed up of waiting for Ben. |

What happens if they just leave him with Lauren it's possible and decide he is no longer gay or bi

He's a definite upgrade on Peter, he has natural chemistry with everyone he's on screen with.

Steven is brilliant, but I can't relax when I'm watching him as I'm always waiting for him to do something which gives away his true intentions. I'm still not buying this supportive son act, so I keep looking for little things that could potentially hint at what's brewing beneath the surface. In last night's episode, it was the very subtle way he shut Kathy out of the room when Ben was told the news about Paul. Was he doing that because he genuinely felt it was better coming from Phil and Ian, or was he playing mind games with her? That's what I love about the character, that uncertainty.
Of course I could be reading him completely wrong but he's far more interesting to watch this way then if he was simply a loving son to a 'father' who disowned him, and a loving boyfriend to shallow Lauren who moved from his brother to him in the blink of an eyelid. |
