What song Manic Monday
Yes. As I mentioned in the Emmerdale thread, it's a song written by Prince, and it's about three months since he passed. I wonder if it was some kind of tribute?

I spoke to my grandad just the same when I went to see him at the undertakers. It's quite normal.
I never said anything to my nan, not because I didn't want to, but because I got such a shock at seeing her like that, I freaked and ran out screaming. It was horrific to see, I don't know how they got the Kylie actress to agree to lie in a coffin, I couldn't no matter how big the paycheque was.

My grandad looked completely different to how I remembered him and that's what I found difficult

Nothing horrific about it whatsoever
She just appeared to be asleep
Calm down, dear!

My aunt looked very peaceful in death which I was happy about as she had died from cancer

That's why I don't feel I could ever visit a passed loved one.

When I lost my Dad in 1993 I said yes I would see him but I bottled it last minute.
Never had any regrets about that, I wanted to remember him full of life and not laying lifeless in a coffin.

That's what creeped me out so much, it didn't look like my nan lying there and she certainly didn't look anything like Kylie, who for a dead person looks pretty good and non scary. In my experience corpses don't tend to look like that unless the person was young or hadn't died of some horrible illness.

No not Kylie, my nan was who looked horrific, and certainly didn't look just asleep either.

I was given the opportunity to see my Gran but I didnt want to in the end, I preferred to remember her how she was. I think id do the same with any loved one too.

I understand.
After we had seen my granny in a chapel of rest, who looked too lifelike somehow the way the makeup had been done, my mother said she did not want anyone to see her after she was dead. Two years later, it was hard initially abiding by her wishes, I wanted to see my Mum. Outside the funeral directors, walking past, I just froze. The very kind manager, whom we knew, took me inside the offices. He listened and he talked, and he reassured me that my Mum looked very peaceful.
Goodness, that opened my soul, so to speak!

Old joke punchline time:

'Now Hans that does dishes is as soft as Gervais, with mild green, hairy lipped squids...'
Sorry to piss on your joke Gulfie but was that originally a line from an ad?
(not your version obviously )
Just I remember Carter using a similar line in one of their songs!!
That takes me back to good times!!!!

I bet they don't even know what pork scratchings are in Hale if you can't eat it with artisan bread and truffle oil they don't want to know
If you ask for pork scratchings in some parts of where I used to live - they'd throw you a pig and a cheese-grater!

Everyone in the cafe lives across the street from the place. Why aren't they having breakfast at home?
They have to go where the cameras are

Beth is just an idiot
Not really. She's protective

David sounds like he's telling Sarah a bedtime story
Why was he waffling on

Fantastic acting by David
I disagree

Despite all the praise heaped upon him for the death episode, I found that scene far more affecting. He was excellent.
No praise from me. Puny Platt needs to get a grip.

Diana's dress was bloody awful.
It was praised at the time even thought it looked crumpled

Kylie looks beautiful
Yes.

Pitty its not sean or gale in coffin
OK collectt your Sean dissing brownie point

I think someone should explain to David that she isnt asleep
I was not impressed. He failed to apologise for letting her go alone into a dangerous situation. He failed to apologise for letting her killer escape.

It's not too bad if you are young. IT's far more traumatic as you get older

It was a Midlands "delicacy" when I was a student at Wolves. None of my mates had ever heard of them and the worst thing was that they had pig hairs on them

'Kylie can't be here, she's not well.
'What's wrong with her?'
'She was complaining about stabbing pains in her chest...'
Too soon, Gulfie. Way too soon

Fantastic acting by David
He is breaking my heart

I have to agree, I would have found it very strange. I read an interview with Jack, tonight, and he briefly talks about that scene and Paula being willing to do it.

Can you talk us through the scene where he visits Kylie in the chapel of rest?

Initially they weren’t going to have Paula in the coffin, they were going to shoot it without seeing the body. But the director asked how we would feel about it and in particular how Paula would feel and she said she was prepared to do it. So now you do see David talking to his dead wife and it made the scenes more emotional for me to play. He gets an extra chance to go and see her. They are great scenes where David says goodbye to Kylie for the last time.

I bet it was strange though and kudos to Paula for taking her role that seriously. As Jack talks about, the scene could have worked without showing us Kylie but heck was it far more powerful for doing so

That's why I don't feel I could ever visit a passed loved one.

I have to totally agree with this, FM Lover. I don't think I could do it. You'd never get that image out of your head.

In regards to Corrie, I'm not sure your last reason would apply to David seen as the last time he saw her was literally bleeding to death in his arms. He's never going to forget that, what she said or the way she looked, for as long as he lives.

I was not impressed. He failed to apologise for letting her go alone into a dangerous situation. He failed to apologise for letting her killer escape.
I pretty sure he apologised, didn't he? I may have been mistaken. It was all difficult to see and hear through my sobbing

Nothing new there.

And looks it.

This episode featured my most hated characters Craig Beth Tim and Jenny.

David is showing less maturity than his 16-year-old niece...

And to the surprise of very few, Gemma is still in Coronation Street and hasn't gone into hiding in the Outer Hebrides in between episodes.

Interesting stuff Star & yes i agree, kudos to Paula!! Whilst the scenes would still have been heartbreaking without seeing the body, it doubled it by the fact you could see her!!
Don't remember this been done on Corrie before, has it on the other soaps anyone?

I have to totally agree with this, FM Lover. I don't think I could do it. You'd never get that image out of your head.

Me too!! When my Dad died I didn't have any interest in going to see him looking all false in the chapel of rest, though to be fair I was with him when he died so had the chance to say my goodbyes!!

Agree about David though!! My Dad's death was perfectly natural at aged 83, but you must never ever get over something like Kylie's passing!!

I pretty sure he apologised, didn't he? I may have been mistaken. It was all difficult to see and hear through my sobbing
You're absolutely right Star he apologised on both counts to her & very moving it was too!! More fantastic acting from Jack!!

I can't agree. Excuses are not apologies. In any case Platt doesn't do apologies.
