That competition made the 3 girls competing in it all seem really unintelligent. There are certain tricky situations with that puzzle, but none of them could figure out where to even begin with solving it at all. It's not that hard. Tiffany, in particular, seems to think she's smarter than some of the others, but I don't think she's ever demonstrated it.

Why use that Veto competition? They absolutely love the status quo in recent years. Tiffany winning would've made for maximum drama. Not saying they should've rigged up something for her, but at least give her an equal chance to win it. It was obvious she wouldn't win that when the house is against her.
I also thought this, that's the worst type of veto competition they do.

There are problems with the gameplay and some of that is because of the competitions at times. The veto is more important than the roadkill and yet only 5 play in it while everyone does roadkill. That's a big constriction on potential gameplay right there. And there's always options just to keep the status quo. James talking about lying low again just shows the conservative nature of this game. Newbies like Natalie have just played into the hands of the vets by going along with them.
