The housemates had all been drinking, so that explains their big reaction. He was so remorseful about getting his expensive microphone wet - the HMs seem really mindful of not getting their mics wet this year, so it's hard to believe he'd have done it deliberately. Surely if it was planned he'd have made an excuse to take the mic off first.

I thought it was funny. I don't think it was staged. It wasn't theatrical enough and he did look genuinely gunked that he'd done it.

Totally fake and staged. From the entire spacious garden area he randomly chooses a narrow strip of grass between two pools of water in which to do some totally random exercises involving strategically placed backward rolls.

When Hughie is drunk he thinks he's a sultry, sexy, stripper. I doubt if falling in the pool making an arse of himself was something he would have wanted to do, so I don't think it was fake. He didn't land in the pool like someone expecting too either, it seem to come as a bit of a shock to him.
